A veteran actor got into monetary trouble with a filmmaker after he failed to return a few crores he had borrowed.

Apparently, he had even mortgaged his Juhu home with the producer-director for the loan. But since he had barely repaid any money, the filmmaker was said to be contemplating legal action. However, he was dissuaded by their common friend, a superstar who assured him that their buddy, who has been going through a bad phase, will pay up if he’s given some more time.

Last heard, the veteran actor’s son has committed to do a couple of films for the filmmaker’s production house to repay his debts and free his house from the mortgage.

Salman Khan is at his charitable best. The latest on the generous superstar is that he is bailing out fellow actor Jackie Shroff, who is currently undergoing a financial crisis. The story goes that Jaggu Dada who is facing a financial crunch had taken a loan of Rs 50 lakh from producer Sajid Nadiadwala. However, Jackie failed to pay back on time.

When Jackie tried to repay, his cheques bounced and Nadiadwala filed a case against Jackie. Says a source, “Jackie then went to Salman (who is Nadiadwala’s close friend) and explained his position to him. Salman immediately called up Nadiadwala and asked him to end the legal wrangle.

Nadiadwala withdrew the case on Salman’s request. Moreoever, Jackie has also parted with most of his Sony shares. He is a darling and nobody wants to see him in trouble, not even Nadiadwala.”

Salman has also taken up the task of resurrecting Jackie’s career. Our source adds, “Salman has got Jackie a prominent role in his brother Sohail Khan’s film, Kissan and also wants to cast him in Veer. Although Salman is keen that Jackie gets a role in that film, Anil Sharma (director of Veer) wants Mithun Chakraborty.”

While Nadiadwala remained unavailable for comment, Jackie brushed off his financial crunch. He says, “Oh, there is no financial crunch. I still have the Sony shares with me. But yes, I had taken a loan from Sajid. The loan was taken for my home-production Sandhya. Woh kuch distribution ka chakkar tha. Sajid will definitely get his money back when my film Sandhya releases. Meri woh picture (Sandhya) atak gayi hai.”

Jackie adds, “I don’t know if Salman is helping me with my career. But if that is the case, I think that I have a guardian angel around me. I would love to work a lot once again. Think of it, who wouldn’t? Actually, there are quite a few guardian angels around me. I think my goodness is helping me out.”
