Yet Another ‘Betrayal’

Friendships are fickle in the film business, and one relatively new director learnt this the hard way recently. After striking up a comfortable rapport with a leading actress who starred in a film he was the first assistant director on a few years ago, the director managed to rope her in to star in his directorial debut. The romantic comedy, which starred a promising young male star opposite the actress, was a reasonable success, and the director quickly began writing his next project, which the actress once again agreed to be part of.

Despite waiting for her to finish previous shooting commitments, the director allegedly received a rude shock recently when the actress said she couldn’t do his film. He’d already begun filming portions of the new film with his two male leads, and was expecting to shoot with the actress as soon as she was back from an outdoor schedule.

The story goes that the actress has chosen another film, opposite an A-list male star, over this one to be directed by her friend, which features two younger, upcoming actors. Although his producers quickly found him a replacement in another successful actress, the director is said to be hurting from what he has described as a “shocking betrayal”.

If sources are to be believed, a certain perfectionist star- whose films are always being awaited with high anticipation, has suddenly pushed the release date for his upcoming and anticipated Suspense film, to the latter end of 2012- because of screechingly close similarities in the story line of a woman centric twist in the tale drama released earlier in 2012, that is getting all the applauds and accolades and has been declared a super hit, (a third in the row for the actress/star of the film).

The perfectionists film, directed by a close friend of the star’s wife- was earlier supposed to release in June, it seems that they are forced to eat humble pie and delay the film to make necessary changes to the narrative and structure to steer as far away from similarities as they possibly can at this point when the film has already been shot.

The star of the film, who is known to be interfering and controlling in every aspect of any film that he is involved in has recently had a spate of ill luck, as a television show that he’s supposed to host, that has been in the making and research for a few years now, broke into a fire.
Let’s see what a midas touch can do to the lack of originality in this industry.
