If I had to choose between movies and TV shows, I would choose TV shows. TV shows are more difficult to execute, in terms of writing, and if a TV show does well, then you know that it MUST be a great show. But still, there are TV shows that I have enjoyed watching, which did not achieve the ratings that its TV networks were hoping for. In many cases as such, these TV shows get cancelled.
‘Political Animals’ is a show that I decided to watch after it was cancelled by its network. This American mini series comprised of only six episodes, most of which were interesting to watch. It’s a show about a former family of the White House and the things they go through in life. In more ways than one, this main lead seemed to have gotten inspired by Hillary Clinton.
‘Political Animals’ features a powerful starcast led firstly by Sigourney Weaver, whom we haven’t really seen for a long time. In this show, she has two very attractive sons; I don’t know which one I will choose either, but I have a feeling it will be Sebastian Stan!
For now ‘Political Animals’ has been cancelled, but I sure hope that another network will pick it up, as based on the ending finale, it seemed that there were more coming up for these characters. Well, one can only hope! For now ‘Political Animals’ is available on DVD, so if you have nothing better to do, why not give it a try?
Political Animals Story
Political Animals is a six-episode American miniseries created by Greg Berlanti. The series aired in the United States on USA Network from July 15 through August 19, 2012. Sigourney Weaver portrays Elaine Barrish, a divorced former First Lady and Governor of Illinois, as well as the current Secretary of State. While the lead character does have some similarities to Hillary Clinton, Weaver has said in interviews that the show is “very much about families who have been in the White House and the price they’ve paid for being in the White House and the fact that families who have been in the White House often try to get back in the White House or continue to try and get in the White House.”
Political Animals Cast
Sigourney Weaver as Elaine Barrish
I have seen a couple of films that Sigourney Weaver is in and I have to say that ‘Political Animals’ is her best work to date. Though I do wonder whether or not, she has taken cues or inspiration from Hillary Clinton.
Carla Gugino as Susan Berg
Carla Gugino gets a good role in ‘Political Animals’. She neatly travels from the bad to good person character. It’s nice and she looks really lovely. I was trying to think where I have seen her before and it turned out she was one of the many beautiful ladies on ‘Californication’. I like the camaraderie between her character and Sigourney Weaver’s character on ‘Political Animals’.
James Wolk as Douglas Hammond
James Wolk probably plays the kind of man that every girl wants to marry. I don’t know, but I had this feeling as I watched his character on ‘Political Animals’. For the record, I am referring to James Wolk’s character on the show not his real life character.
Sebastian Stan as Thomas “T.J.” Hammond
Sebastian Stan is an actor that I remember from ‘Gossip Girl’ and since then, he has been trying to be in a solid show. It’s sad to see this one did not really work out for him, but still his work as TJ was well appreciated and he’s was quite good too. He looked very pretty!
Brittany Ishibashi as Anne Ogami
Brittany Ishibashi does look familiar, but turned out she is still relatively new in the world of television. She had a small, but important role in ‘Political Animals’ as well. Hope to see more of her soon.
Ellen Burstyn as Margaret Barrish
Ellen Burstyn reminds me so much of the lady, who plays Jack Donaughy’s motehr in ’30 Rock’. Turned out, it wasn’t her at all. And Ellen does impress as a mother and grandmother in ‘Political Animals’. She is the comedy in ‘Political Animals’.
Ciarán Hinds as Donald “Bud” Hammond
Another element of comedy comes from Ciaran Hinds, who plays the husband of Sigourney’s character in ‘Political Animals’. Every time he comes on screen, he does a great job.
