It’s been five years since Anushka Sharma has been in Bollywood. She made her debut in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2008. In 2008, it was the year of the beauties in Bollywood. In other words, pretty actresses were reaching the top and that same year the media declared a pretty actress as the number one heroine of Bollywood (no points for guessing who!). Despite not being the prettiest girl in Bollywood (Aditya Chopra told her that!), Anushka went on to become one of the best actresses in Bollywood. It turns out the audience does appreciate good acting skills in India, so Anushka went on to become the top 10 heroines of Bollywood with her next releases. Today we check out the best performances of Anushka Sharma from 2008 to 2013, irrespective of whether the films were flops or hits. ‘Badmaash Company’ came out in the same year as ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ and this time, Anushka Sharma was part of an ensemble cast that included Shahid Kapoor. The film was a fun time-pass with a great performance by Anushka. Also, Anushka looks really good with Shahid!
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
In Yash Chopra’s last film, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, before he passed, Anushka Sharma played her usual role which is her bubbly self. Opposite Shah Rukh Khan again, Anushka’s efforts in the film were appreciated by everyone. Of course it’s not that hard to make an impression when the other actress in the film is Katrina Kaif, whom I do think had something to do with Anushka’s decide to have that small enhancement for her lips.
Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl
‘Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl’ was a change for Anushka. This was the first time, she had to work hard on her body. Rumour has it, Aditya Chopra suggested Anushka loose some weight though he does look like he needs to loose some himself! Anushka wore a two-piece for the first time in her career in this film that also had three other actresses including Parineeti Chopra, who took away all the praise for her loud Punjabi role.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Anushka’s first film, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, had none other than the superstar of the country Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Aditya Chopra, Anushka’s role in this film was that of a quiet and serious girl (of course, who wouldn’t be? her character’s father just passed and she had to quickly marry his nerd looking student!).

One of the best films of Bollywood, ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ is our favourite Anushka Sharma movie. This movie was so huge that it inspired dozens of Bollywood movies that mostly failed to recreate its magic with the audience. This movie is also the debut film of Ranveer Singh, who is a huge star today. It’s hard to believe that a movie can have great performances from all of its actors, but ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ is proof of that. The director of his film Maneesh Sharma has unfortunately found his muse in Parineeti Chopra after he cast her in ‘Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl’. The two are said to be in a relationship, which I think is the reason why Maneesh takes her for every single movie of his. No word on whether he plans on working with Anushka Sharma again.
In five years, Anushka Sharma has acted in seven films. She said that she does more ads so that she can choose her films well. In those seven films, there hasn’t been a single one where she under or over performed. This is why Anushka Sharma is in the top five list of actresses today and as soon as the current undeserving top actresses retire, she will reach the number one or number two (if Vidya or Kangana is number one) spot!
