Buffalo Inc is one of the current 14 subsidiaries of MELCO (the name stands for Maki Engineering Laboratory Company) Holdings Inc, a family business that was founded by Makoto Maki. Buffalo Inc first made its name in the computer peripheral market in 1981 when it produced an EEPROM writer. It was initially founded as an audio equipment manufacturer and its name was derived from the name for the American Bison and one of the company’s first products, which was a printer buffer.

Bufallo produces LinkTheater entertainment device that seamlessly integrates with your stereo components and TV in streaming multimedia from a Windows PC, a LinkStation Live, a LinkStation Quad, a TeraStation Live, a USB storage device or any DLNA media server device.

Buffalo produces both DIMM and SODIMM type system memories. It also produces FireStix which allows for superior performance in gaming and over-clocking environments.
