Hewlett-Packard Company, also commonly known by its abbreviations, HP, is a consumer electronics corporation based in Palo Alto, California, United States. It specializes in developing and manufacturing computing, storage, and networking hardware, software and services. The company was founded in a garage nearby Palo Alto in 1935 by William “Bill” Hewlett and David “Dave” Packard, two graduates in electrical engineering from Stanford University, with the help of their past professor, Frederick Terman. The company was later established in 1939, and the two founders tossed a coin to decide whether the company would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett. Although Packard won the coin toss, they decided to name their electronics manufacturing enterprise the “Hewlett-Packard Company”.
