In case you have no idea who Harshvardhan Kapoor is, he’s Sonam Kapoor’s brother and Anil Kapoor’s son. Based on his Facebook post on the day that he was leaving to attend the Filmfare Awards, Harsh seemed to think that he was going to win the award for the Best Bollywood Debut of 2016.

Since he won for the other award functions, it seems only logical that he would think he nailed the Filmfare one too. But that wasn’t such the case that evening, the award was given to Diljit Dosanjh. For some reason, the Indian Express newspaper thought it was a good idea to interview Harsh and ask for his opinion on the whole thing.

We don’t know for sure whether they asked him or he talked about it all by himself. This interview of his exploded online and unleashed a whole new level of nepotism hate. You will see why when you read it below. He also has a complaint about Sonam not winning the popular award. For some reason in his interviews, he always refers to some Hollywood talent.

By the way, Anushka Sharma said the same thing when Asin won the Best Female Debut Award for ‘Ghajini’ over Anushka’s performance in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. But, Asin did the same role twice! That was unfair to Anushka. All this unleashed this War of Words between Filmfare people and Harsh.

Harsh on not winning the Filmfare Award

I won every award except Filmfare. You don’t know what kind of goes into it. Some awards have a jury and they decide. Some have a popular vote. So I don’t know how they decided this year. I think debutant awards should be for people who are relatively new to films. I have done less work. Otherwise, it is like saying I have done 100 English films and now I am doing a Hindi film so I am a debutant. So if Leonardo Di Caprio wins an Oscar and then comes to do a Bollywood movie, he is a debutant which is not something I agree with.

Sonam should have won the main category. Neerja is highest grossing female film of the year and in terms of popularity, it’s massive. I don’t understand how it works.
