Well, he did not directly say that, it's what he meant to say indirectly!
In what has come as a surprise to us, Kamal Haasan is hosting the South version of Bigg Boss. It is a surprise because he is a man, who has always been obsessed with his craft and art, so to think that he has time to do other things is questionable. Just like Aamir Khan, which makes sense when a journalist asked Kamal on why he didn’t choose to host a show like ‘ Satyamev Jayate’ instead. Kamal’s answer was priceless! But unfortunately, he didn’t go too much into that and just moved on to the new show he’s hosting. It’s funny how everyone knows what the real Aamir Khan is like and since he’s so successful, they all keep quiet and clap for his achievements. But, not Kamal Haasan! Kamal Haasan is a very strange choice as host of this show. There are many other young stars in the South, who would have been perfect. But then again, none of them is like Kamal Haasan. Kamal praised the way Salman Khan handles himself on the show, which he said he would like to do the same. The Tamil version of Bigg Boss will be released on June 25 this year and it will be interesting to see how the Tamil audience reacts to it. Will it create as many controversies as it did for its Hindi version? Will they give Shilpa Shetty a piece of the pie since she’s the one that made this show famous? Do you remember when they invited Sunny Leone to Bigg Boss for the first time? How interesting it was to have the contestants go, “You look so familiar”. They weren’t told who this girl was and those, who said she looks familiar, were quite surprising. One of them was Pooja Bedi. But to be fair, not everyone recognised Sunny; only some of the guys and Pooja! Anyways, Kamal Haasan has been single for a while now and he probably realised at his old age, he can make use of his spare time better. He also realised it’s a great platform to promote his films and also the careers of his daughters.
You know how he will make use of that money? He will make a movie where he gets to play all the main characters. Speaking of multiple characters, Kamal’s ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ will be released soon. We wonder how this film will be since ‘Vishwaroopam’ was such a heavy film. It was also a wannabe film, but just too long and heavy. He was so good in ‘ Papanasam’, we wonder why he feels the need to do these huge films with him taking on as many characters as he can. A simple film with simple characters will do just fine. Anyways, check out what Kamal Haasan has to say about Bigg Boss.
Kamal Haasan Interview on Bigg Boss
Kamal on why he didn’t do a Satyamev Jayate in Tamil
I have been more socially responsible for long than the person who hosted Satyamev Jayate.
Kamal on Bigg Boss
Yes, I am doing Bigg Boss in Tamil. I’ve tried many different roles in various capacities as an entertainer but never as a host on a television show. Reality television is so far not a reality in my career. I want to see what it feels like. The show has a very wide reach. I don’t have to don an avatar this time. I can just be me, in my most natural self, and reach every household.
Kamal on Salman Khan as the host of Bigg Boss
Salman genuinely bonds with the contestants on Bigg Boss. There is no pretension or patronising in his attitude. Being friendly comes naturally to him. And he gives advice as a friend, not as a mentor. There is none of the I-know-better superiority in his attitude. I’d also like to bond genuinely with the contestants, though how it goes will depend entirely on how they perceive me, as a friend or as a mentor.
