In Hollywood, it’s been done many times and in Bollywood, this is the first time in recent times that a top actress has managed to quietly plan her wedding and get married on the day that no one knew for sure was happening. Like we mentioned in a blind item last week, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli were planning on tying the knot the coming week and it was said that they will be holding a reception next year.
It seems that they did manage to get married quietly and are also planning a reception for their relatives on 21 December. The reception for Bollywood people will happen on 26 December, where cricket people were also invited. Congratulations to Anushka and Virat for pulling the wedding of their dreams off so quietly.
Actually, the minute people saw their priest together with Anushka’s family at the airport last week, they already guessed that a wedding is going to happen because who in the world travels with their priest. And the priest tried to go under disguise, you know. Like he didn’t his priest attire, but still people recognised it was him.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli announced the wedding did happen through different pictures shared on their social media accounts with the same statement:
Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share this wonderful news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.
Anushka’s spokesperson, who has been denying since last week that a wedding is about to happen was most probably kept in the loop as well!
It was Aditya Chopra, who gave Anushka Sharma the idea of getting married in Italy. You know, the same Aditya Chopra who called her not pretty to her face and brought her back down to earth with that comment. For some reason, Yash Raj Films also released a statement regarding the Anushka-Virat wedding:
We are very happy to announce that Ms. Anushka Sharma and Mr. Virat Kohli got married at a private ceremony in Italy, today. The wedding was attended by close family and a few friends as they wished their wedding to be a very private affair. The wedding was performed as per Hindu rituals. Top fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has designed the wedding ensemble for both the bride and the groom. Virat and Anushka will now start inviting all industry friends and colleagues for the celebrations that are set to happen in Mumbai.
They both looked really nice (and expensive) and Anushka looks very happy. It shows on her face. Glad that everything is back to normal.

I find anushka fake. But she does look gorgeous here and i love the flowers in her hair and the jewellery.

Interestingly, I read on Pvilla (like that site less and less!) a comment from someone who called himself/herself a Bollywood insider that Anu announced VK to be a complete manchild on the sets of Bombay Velvet (she had broken up with him then). Any more insight into this? At least from his matches and captaincy, he comes across as mature and sensible.
yep, there were rumours during ADHM too that ppl could hear her yelling at him while video con. She seems quite dominating to me, has the whole, ‘my way or the high way’ look about her most times

How much did Anushka’s lehenga cost? I feel she succumbed to marriage after she saw how Katrina fate post break up with ranbir. Anushka probably sensed this is the best she could do. If she leaves Virat now there are hardly any fish in the sea.

not sure about her being ‘very traditional’. But i guess, like the majority i also felt that Virat is more invested in her . We have been hearing about him pressurising her for marriage for a while now. She knows BW is going through tough times, so, it is a very well thought through decision.

IDK about this nefarious, Anushka Sharma’s family seems quite traditional. Her family are devout followers of the Anant Dham Atmabodh Ashram in Haridwar. She was raised in a a stable family oriented environment. Anushka father is still in the scene and is a former army officer, her brother isn’t a former porn-star, he worked in the Merchant Navy and her mother is a homemaker who hasn’t been producing children with multiple men around the globe.
Anyway, I agree that this was a well thought out decision. It is good that they married in their prime and in love rather than when they are washed out and have to marry because of social obligation. If a woman wants to start a family, it is better for both mother and baby to start trying to conceive during child-bearing age rather than marry at 36 – 40 and struggle to have children or be exhausted caring for them. Biology doesn’t care about anyones career plans. Rani is regretting not trying for children earlier (read her latest interview), Aishwarya will likely not have a second child at 44 and chances are slim for Priety Zinta to ever bear a child at 42. If Kat and Piggy go on this way, she will soon join the likes of actresses like Tabu.
Also, traditional atleast in BW (as i read interviews )what they mean is someone who will not give into some pressures and flip out in public.All of them have secrets , none of them are virgins but no one likes people who kiss and tell . No matter what Anushka -Deepika come from stable and supportive families and it surely counts in BW. Kat never had it Piggy is talking too much these days(she already burnt almost all the bridges in BW).

Probably one of the reasons why Virat and his family truly saw her as marriage material. Look at all the actresses who actually married well (Aishwarya, Genelia,Anushka) they do kind of have reputation of having traditional values that work for BW families they married into.
Anushka must have also received a sound advice from her family which she smartly took it. Frankly inspite of good line up of movies hardly any of her movies are doing well at box office. Nor she has a great fan following without Virat in picture…that guy treats her like a Queen. No matter how successful actresses are forgotten soon in BW. With all new actors coming out she hasnt more than 2-3 years of career aneways.

A person can come from a traditional close-knit family and still do photoshoots and magazine covers. I’ve looked at Anu’s photoshoots and they are rather tame considering she was a former model and not a temple priestess. She isn’t frolicking naked in the sand or balancing a bottle on her bum like Kim Kardashian. Was Anushka ever a Playboy bunny and I have been unaware of it?
Aishwarya Rai has done a kissing scene with a married man, walked in a highcut swimsuit in front of the world for Miss World, and has done similar photoshoots as Anushka, yet she’s a traditional woman from the Bunt community. She also highly respects her parents, even lived with them prior to marriage despite being a star, and follows all community traditions and observances. And being a foreigner or not has nothing to do with being traditional or not, I have been to several countries for work assignments and some foreigners are more traditional than us Indians. Respecting elders, living in a joint family, cooking ethnic dishes, celebrating festivals and wearing traditional clothing isn’t exclusive only to us.
