Trailer: Veere Di Wedding – Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania

Since there have been so many requests on doing something similar on ‘Veere Di Wedding’ like the post of ‘Sanju’s teaser, we had to give in because the requests will keep coming in and believe you me (Rishi Kapoor’s favourite words), we decided to give in before being asked further. So here goes.

Veere Di Wedding - Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania

Alright, so we have been avoiding doing this post because like we mentioned in a comment, this trailer confused the hell out of us. Confused and shocked us till we felt shacked watching it. Like we were so shocked that we started saying “shacked” instead of “shocked”. Maybe this is what happens to expectations after having waited for so long to see the trailer of this film. About five minutes ago, we have figured it out: the way they created this trailer is just so wrong and misleading.

First, check out the trailer below:

As you can see, they dived straight into the PG-18 stuffs without warning. Whatever happened to huge headlines or wordings right before the trailer starts?

Then, we started thinking about our old lady. She’s going to think that this movie is a fun one because she likes Sonam Kapoor’s films. She has ‘Khoobsurat’ in every form of portable media that she owns. Yeah, picture it! So now, we were thinking about how we have to make excuses to avoid watching this film with her. Not because we are prude, but because old lady is going to get the shack of her life!

It is the same for all of us, who have seen these ladies from the beginning. Like Sonam and Kareena, this is going to be a whole different experience to see them acting and speaking this way. It’s normal!

That aside, the second problem with this trailer is that a lot of going on for no reason. A lot of overacting, that is. Mainly from Kareena and Swara’s side. Doing a chick film or a film about modern girls is fine, but something is amiss. It doesn’t feel right. It looks fake, forced and wannabe. First half of the trailer is one thing and the other half is another. Such a massive jump.

Again, the trailer could have been different. A nice intro into their lives first instead of diving into the mature stuffs. At this point, it looks like the ‘Hate Story’ series done in a comedy setting with extremely popular actors.

About the ladies in the film, there is definitely something not fitting right. Sonam Kapoor looks tired and Kareena Kapoor looks miscast. What is the deal with the Kapoor grandkids getting miscast these days? For some reason, we keep thinking that this is how Bebola is in real life. This is how she talks and we will be lying if we don’t mention how we keep hearing “Go deep throat” while watching the trailer. Don’t know why, but it happened!

Swara Bhasker is too much, but maybe it’s because she has never been seen in something like this before. Only Shikha Talsania seems to be working and in case you don’t know who she is, she is the daughter of this veteran actor:

Veere Di Wedding - Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania

Yes, our own desi Hercule Poiroit.

So yes, we are not sure what to think of the trailer because we are still split/split on it. But yes, the trailer could have been much much better. There should have been an intro on these ladies so that we get their characters first because the way this trailer is set, it’s as if the audience have all met these characters before. They want to have mature content, it’s fine. They just need to know how to get to THAT and not just start yapping the F word or the S word as soon as the cameras are on. Speaking of that, it’s funny how Bebola once said that she could never do the type of open role that Vidya Balan did in ‘The Dirty Picture’. Times have changed and desperate times call for desperate measures!

This reminds us when Aamir Khan produced ‘Delhi Belly’, he made it clear that the film wasn’t for kids or for people, who get easily offended. People were prepared to watch that film and were not shocked at all. And it had Imran Khan as one of the heroes with his chocolate boy image.

Based on the title of this film, we thought that it was going to be about someone’s wedding. Had no clue that this was about the S-life of all four characters and then, there’s a wedding happening. It will be interesting to see how this movie will fare at the box office because this is a first of its kind and there isn’t a niche audience for this kind of modern mainstream cinema yet. Let’s hope the best for the team of ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and also hope that the film is better than this trailer.

Anyways, let’s open the floor now on your thoughts about the trailer of ‘Veere Di Wedding’. Is this one wedding you are eagerly awaiting?

    1. You got it wrong there admin. There isn’t a niche audience for this type of modern cinema isn’t true at all. Infact, there isn’t an audience for such overacting and forced sex jokes. Or may be there is…errr… (Masti song in the background)

    2. This looks awful. Sonam has had exactly one memorable film and one average performance in eleven years. Neerja, that’s it. Why is she still being shoved down her throats? Oh yeah, nepotism.

      1. I really want to believe that Neerja was a hit not because of Sonam but of the real woman … people went out to see that movie because they wanted to see what transpired on the plane and how the hero Neerja came to the rescue, I dont think it was about Sonam although she try to sell herself as the one making the movie a hit. The story alone was a hit.

    3. “So we have been avoiding doing this post” rofl yeah right admin, who you think you fooling? most of us in here knows you so best and you have been itching to do this review, you couldnt wait for the trailer to come out and we honestly couldnt wait for this review of yours. Actually more so me after your bedspread comment about sodumb dress. I on the one hand dont really give two hoots about kareena or sodumb, they both are over priveleges bimbo heads who thinks the world revolves around them and everything they do is right and they should be worshipped. I hope this movie flop very very badly. I honestly think it will too and the only saving grace is how much tickets kareena and her hussie could buy, or how much more money anil could shell out to save his daughters movie. What I really want to see is someone or a couple of people sending in their open letters about all that swearing in the movie etc etc… btw with that group of sillies, was the word vagina vagina mentioned at all? I really dont even care to even watch the trailer.

      1. Nah ah…Got nothing to lose why would we lie. It was a really bland and disappointing trailer and you can already see how fans are reacting to those who don’t like the trailer by calling them haters, backward people, and all that crap. Hence the reason why we were avoiding it.

    4. My first reaction was that it wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing, especially from a styling perspective as Sonam’s other productions were. Aisha, Khoobsurat, Neerja all had a fantastic aesthetic. It is one of the things I look forward to in Sonam’s movies. Here, it just seemed so forced and all over the place.

      1. Old enough to be your sister and not your mother 😉 Hercule Poirot is one of the main characters of this wonderful author called Agatha Christie. Read her books growing up and they are amazing, such a delight. Beautiful language and such crime mysteries in there that make one’s mind work hard at figuring it out. They had a film from his character’s book last year, Johnny Depp played him.

    5. I just thought something. Some of our ‘prestigious’ bollywood cinema awards like Filmfare, IIFA are nothing different from the Teen Choice Awardsin US, which shows the maturity our film awards actually have.

    6. For two people who claim to be good friends in real life, kareena and Sonam got no chemistry between them.. Actually the same goes for all of them. No chemistry between the four leads. Also as you said admin, this trailer is a mess. They should have first released an introductory teaser/trailer then released this trailer afterwards.

Kareena is overacting as usual and Sonam is sleepwalking through the trailer. Also she got the most annoying voice with the worst dialogue delivery. Sonam makes Varun Dawan’s annoying voice and atrocious dialogue delivery tolerable.

    7. Jitesh pillai in his recent filmfare chat mentioned the movies he’s most looking forward to in 2018 and list consists of—–
Dutt ,Veere di wedding ,Zero ,Raazi and October

One thing common about the list is —- all the movie’s star Nepo Brats except for Zero. Poor jitesh will be very disappointed if his personal favourite Bebola and fashion icon’s movie bombs at the box office .
I think he’s already had a minor heart attack with October’s failure –cause he already decided to give Best actor of the year award to varun. Let’s see how will veere perform at the box office.

P.S—– Krk already declared veere di wedding as second big mainstream flop of 2018 after October.lol

      1. @pooja If Sanju is a box office success, I think all the awards for best actor will be given to Ranbir. Varun will get the best actor- critics awards. If Sanju bombs in the box office, Ranbir will win for best actor-critics and Varun will win best actor awards. Ranveer and Deepika will definitely be royally snubbed this award season. Alia will be winning all the best actress awards for Raazi..

Look at that article on pv (and some other bollywood sites) regarding Avengers-infinity wars breaking Padmaavat first day collection. The article states that Padmaavat made so much because of the year long controversy it went through. Are they mad? If the controversies did not happen it would have made much more money with an all-India release. Some rival actor’s pr or paid media of nepo brats/bollywood bigwigs trying to undermine DP and RS’s box office pull.

      2. C’mon, I am surprised Black Panther did not break Padmaavat’s record. As a college student, I know the appeal Marvel movies have on everyone from the age group 10-25, which also happens to be the majority of the demographic of cinema-goers. Many ppl also watch it for the foreign tag (read ‘cool’) as well, but it has an overall general appeal. Given that, Padmaavat only faced losses because of the mindless hooliganism that surrounded it. The DP-RS rant is really showing the insecurities that the talentless ppl of our cinema have.
I am just thinking which records Deadpool 2 will break (huge Ryan Reynolds fan ;))

    8. Not watching this film. All the four characters are needlessly spouting cuss words and moving around like headless chicken.

    9. You all are haters here or men who think girl-pals don’t speak like this! Personally, me and my friends loved this trailer. Concept is not new, but for the first time we have some new age content from a gang of girls’ point of view. Also, Love Ranjan ki movies me female bashing is ok, but ek chick flick me bandi fuck bol de to haaye ram!!

      1. @GeekyGal I personally had no problem with them using cuss words (even I say F**k pretty regularly). The thing is it doesn’t seem natural, which personally irked me. The only time when it felt natural was when Mikesh-actor proposed and Kareena went to the cubicle.

      2. @NightGlory please look around the comment section. Most people have issues with ”unnecessary” cuss words.

    10. Unlike the male bonding movies we have seen in the past , like DCH , ZNMD etc there is absolutely no chemistry between all the 4 female characters. They each seem to be doing their own thing. everyone seems to be overacting or not acting (incase of SoDumb) except for Shikha , she seems fine. Excess and unrequited use of cuss words. Kareena looks old & hams , she’s a total miscast! Sonam looks malnourished and tired. The movie will be heavily promoted but doubt it has much of content.

    11. Interesting trailer but OTT in swearing. We get it, it’s a women’s take on men, sex, friendships no need to swear every 5 secs. As for the “performances” sodumb can’t act. Even in the poster she hams. She should just run a fashion empire with her sister and plug l’oreal. Once she is married her “career” will disappear so fast none of us will even remember who she was. Kareena needs to retire or run a mommy and me fitness business. Instead of improving her craft she has hit the reverse button and has resorted to screeching and hamming. I guess being a flower pot dulls your talent. She screwed up her own career another actress no one will miss if she goes.
