100 crore Bollywood Films in 2018

Since entering the 100 crore club has become the benchmark for all filmmakers or rather for all big stars in Bollywood, trade analysts have just released the films that have crossed that benchmark last year in 2018. This might be the list of films that earned over 100 crore at the box office, but that does not mean that they recovered their budget. Films like ‘Race 3’ and ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ got a great opening, but then word of mouth (WOM) and critics’ reviews made the audience think twice before spending their hard-earned money in these films.

‘Thugs of Hindostan’ was made on an estimated budget of 310 crore while ‘Race 3′ was made on a budget of 150–185 crore. Both of these big superstars’ film managed to make some profit before the films even released due to the the satellite rights sold for high prices. Distributors and cinema owners are the one, who suffered the most losses.

It’s been more than a week that Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’ released, but unlike TOH and ‘Race 3′, this film struggled to get a good opening. WOM and critics’ reviews made things worst and since then the film has been struggling. Note that ‘Simmba’, which released last week has already earned an estimated 100 crore while ‘Zero’ is still lagging behind at about 88 crore. ‘Simmba’ was made on an 80 crore budget and things have been going great so far for the film. ‘KGF’, which released on the same day as ‘Zero’ has already earned more than 150 crore, but it is not a Bollywood film so it’s not featured on the list.

Here are the movies that have successfully entered the 100 crore club in 2018. Which of these is your favourite?

    1. I remember once in an old interview Rani saying’ of course I believe men r superior to women’….those days she was into people pleasing….now it’s all about ‘im the boss , listen to me’…. deeply patriarchal woman…with no values.. sleeps with married men…preach crap…then says that ‘ u can’t tell women how to bring up their children’…as far as changing the mind set is concerned…
….but she is a good actress …I will give her that…..

    2. @Admin, pls do a piece on the actresses roundtable, pretty pls.

Anushka was pretty annoying only second to rani. Tabu remained silent. Alia seemed to be sharing her dads views on things. I doubt any of those opinions were own. Anushka is hell bent on proving how detached she is. Ive seen her echoing this statement in most of her interviews. ( and ya right she hasnt compromised and got opportunities on a platter!)

      1. it felt like everyone talking at the same time over each other also why werent they asked more question on acting, role prep

    3. Zero and TOH budget was to bring BW movie to HW level movie, using new technology! All crtics have said,or so called self proclaimed crtics that performances were great, the special effects were great! The story needed to be stronger, but that would happened with how well this new format does at the box office! The international audiences made the zero film a hit movie! So, BW audiences needs to decide if they wants more movies masterpieces like Toliet, padman, and simba, that some crtics with underlying agendas, given 4 to 5 stars, that not many people will watch twice,or even remember!

    4. Zero end up in below 90cr.it’s sad its budget was 200cr.such waste of money in khans film.so money poor ppl was feeded with such huge money which wasted of race3,zero,toh.

      1. So many poor ppl special malnutrition children will feed on such huge money.its sad me most this khans still man most money live luxurious life without any loss of single penny.

      2. you do realize it took them 25 years to get here a lot of films flops all of them lose money why are you blaming the khans only. a much much much bigger waste of money was the ambani wedding btw

      3. @guest: Only a Hardcore communist will say that Ambani wedding was a waste, It put back 700 crores into the Indian economy, the wedding generated 100 Million dollar worth of local business when Ambanis could have easily taken that away to any foreign location. Billionaires spending money is a good thing, those Billions in the bank will not do any good for the economy.

@Pooja: Learn some basic economics, things like entertainment, science, space, defence cannot be shut down until poverty is eradicated, that way you will destroy the economy and even the whole society where everyone with any talent in art, business, science will leave the country. Will you sell your laptop, Smartphone, cancel your Broadband, TV, phone subscription and give all the proceeds to the local poor people? Anyway these are luxury things and looks wasteful when compared to world poverty.

        1. @fact
I have read exactly same concept by an economist once in his article about how people label riches for wasting their own money for charity and personal expenses. You summarised it in a single para! Keep it up. It’s how the money keeps rotating and generates jobs etc.

      4. @fact maybe learn to stop putting labels on people based on their one opinion and having opinion is their ryte same as you maybe the ambains should open shadi Mubarak why not create long term jobs why buy beyonce a foreigner when you can hire local artists
