The trailer of Priyadarshan’s much-awaited ‘Hungama 2’ has just been released. Like most sequels released these days, ‘Hungama 2’ has nothing to do with the first ‘Hungama’. Based on the trailer, the only actors featured in ‘Hungama 2’ from the original film are Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav so just like they did with ‘Race 3’, why did they choose to classify this movie as the sequel of ‘Hungama’?
Check out the trailer of ‘Hungama 2’:
Other than Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, ‘Hungama 2’ also stars Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaffery and Pranitha. This is Shilpa’s big comeback, in some ways, and Meezan’s second film.
Meezaan, son of Javed Jaffery, made his debut in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production titled ‘Malaal’. He spent most of the promotions for that film talking about how he was the stand-in for Ranveer Singh on the sets of ‘Padmaavat’ and it was there SLB saw something in him. If you see that song he did in that film, there are glimpses of Ranveer and Ranbir in his acting Shilpa dancing. In this film, though, you can clearly see the RK inspiration here. Like we mentioned, the new gen of actors seems to be heavily inspired by Ranbir Kapoor. They copy and mimic him without even realizing they are doing so. Before RK, it was SRK!
Since ‘Malaal’ released and flopped at the box office, Meezaan was waiting to sign his second film. In between, he has been in the news for his linkup with Big B’s grand-daughter Navya Naveli…Meezaan maintains that she is just his sister’s friend but also mentions this:
Navya and I are really close friends, and I think because of me, her name has come up in a lot of places and that’s unfair, you know.
It was awkward to visit her (Navya) in Jalsa, and it was awkward to visit my own house as my parents had started to give me looks. It was a little difficult in the beginning, but I think we are fine now.
As you can see in the trailer, there’s the remix version or rather modern version of Shilpoo’s and Khiladi Kumar’s famous love song, ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’. At least, this one does not feature Akshay since he also took his other famous ‘Tip Tip Barsa’ song and did it with Katrina Kaif, leaving Raveena Tandon behind and not even acknowledging her. It is Shilpa’s song, so why not?!
Overall, the trailer is silly and the film appears boring. It was not needed. ‘Hungama’ was comedy-gold and it’s our favourite comedy film till date. As a matter of fact, we watched ‘Hungama’ and ‘Chalte Chalte’ back to back when it released on CD and the youngest one in the family was laughing her head off watching ‘Chalte Chalte’ because she thought it was also a comedy like ‘Hungama’. Both films had their fair share of arguments in them!
This one looks too silly and dull, especially in today’s day and age. Meezaan doesn’t gel well at all in this cast, he’s either mimicking RK or overacting and this is only from the trailer! You can’t expect nothing less than perfection from legends like Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav (good to see him back)! Shilpoo looks great but here she is playing the wife of a man over 65, it’s a bit awkward when her ex is doing the reverse!
By the way, this is the remake of Priyadarshan’s ‘Minnaram’ which released in 1994 and starred Mohanlal and the beautiful Shobana.
‘Hungama 2’ will be released July 23 exclusively on DisneyPlus Hotstar.
So…
