Dhanush & Aishwarya announce marriage separation

Dhanush released the following statement on his official social media account:

Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth have been married since 2004 and they have 2 sons, Yatra and Linga. His announcement of their separation might come as a shock to many but honestly, it’s not a surprise to most. In fact, it’s surprising that Aishwarya has stayed married for as long as they did. Probably because they have a reputation to uphold since Dhanush is such a huge star in the Tamil film industry.

Dhanush was 20 when he got married and soon after, all eyes were on him since he became THE Rajnikanth’s son-in-law. During those 18 years together, Dhanush and Aishwarya worked together. She directed him in ‘3’ which had the very famous ‘Kolaveri Di’ song. They also sang together in ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’.

It was also on the sets of ‘3’ that there were rumours of a separation between these two when allegedly Dhanush got a little bit too close for comfort with his co-star on that film.

Dhanush aka Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raj started getting noticed for his performances from 2011 onwards. He has four National Awards, including two Best Actor awards. In Bollywood, he was last seen in ‘Atrangi Re’ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan.

Here’s how their marriage happened:

It all started with rumours. The two first met when Dhanush’s film Kadhal Kondaen had released. The cinema owner introduced Aishwarya to Dhanush and she congratulated him on his performance. The very next day, the actor received a bouquet from Aishwarya with a congratulations note and Dhanush appreciated the sweet gesture but there was nothing more than that at that time between the two.

Soon, media reports started making headlines that Dhanush and Aishwarya are seeing each other. At that time, Dhanush even went on record to refute the claims stating that she is just his sister’s friend and nothing else. But, it was their families who thought that the two will make for good life partners.

And soon, the families arranged a meeting, and as they say, the rest is history. The actor fell in love with Aishwarya’s humble nature and maturity. Soon, the two realised that they are a good match and decided to get married.

Dhanush, on his own, always complained how he was forced into everything and had to do it under the pressure of his family. His acting career and marriage were both not his decisions. It might explain why he went haywire and started doing what he wanted offscreen as soon as he became a top star.

Aishwarya has also released the same statement ending on a different note and she signed it off under her maiden name.
