It’s finally official! Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson and Sridevi’s daughter will be making their debut as actors in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’ next year in 2023.
Netflix and Zoya Akhtar just launched the Cast Announcement video without naming in writing who were in it, ironically. Here’s is the Cast Announcement video, which coincidentally looks like an ad for teenagers’ clothing!
Guess now all the talk about nepotism had absolutely no effect, whatsoever. It’s a bit strange how all of these star kids are choosing to make their debut on an OTT platform instead on the big screen. To be fair, it’s smart because then no one is going to call them a failure or a flop.
Speaking of which, it’s strange how Big B’s grandson decided to get into Bollywood. We always thought it would be his sister but then again, that would also depend on the Bachchans. Other than that, we thought seeing how much his own uncle struggled all these years till today would have made the boy stay away from being compared to his grandfather’s legacy! But there might just be a chance that Agastya doesn’t end up like his uncle. After all, success does skip one generation in Bollywood and this time, Agastya’s destiny might be different from AB Jr.
There was no doubt Suhana Khan was going to be make her debut as an actress. Shah Rukh has always been open about her entering Bollywood so it’s not a surprise, really. She did come prepare, though. Girl obviously had some tweaks since she has been in the public eye, anyone can see it.
Sridevi’s second daughter, the one who resembles her the most, Khushi Kapoor is in this one too and what can one say about this? We can help but think that Sridevi introduced her cosmetic surgeon to her daughters before she passed. No offense but imagine the conversations she must have had with her girls ’cause they went under the knife at a very young age. Imagine how painful that must have been for them, both mentally and physically.
Strangely, all three are making their acting debut way before anyone expected them to.
Their looks and styling is quite close to The Archie Comics’ characters. Agastya’s red hair, Suhana and Khushi’s hair style and the rest of the gang.
Obviously, this is going to generate some criticism but it’s a Zoya Akhtar production and she has never gone wrong, yet! Wonder what made her go with this project and choose these star kids? It’s a lot of pressure. She is going to have all these superstars breathing down her neck!
Everyone related to these star kids have posted their congratulatory messages on social media even though it’s just a Cast Announcement and not the actual teaser or trailer! It’s like being applauded for taking the first step!
With their entry on Netflix, the OTT door is now open to welcome more star kids or kids related to stars…and you know there are many! At least, the OTT platforms were left to newbies and outsiders for a couple of years but with these big names entering it, things are about to change!
