It’s been 10 years since Jiah Khan’s mother accused Sooraj Pancholi of torturing her daughter to the point that she didn’t want to live any more.
A couple of days after Jiah’s death in 2013, Sooraj was arrested on abetment charges. He was put in jail and released on bail sometime after. He made his debut in a Salman Khan production that flopped so did the two films he did after that. It’s safe to say the case or rather Jiah’s death and her mother’s accusations didn’t make his entry into Bollywood smooth. It’s even worst since he is the son of Bollywood’s famous off-screen villain, Aditya Pancholi.
Now ten years have passed since then and finally last week, a Mumbai court released Sooraj on these abetment charges primarily due to the case not being proven in court as well as Jiah’s mother’s behaviour that also messed up the case, according to the judge.
Sooraj kept quiet on this case for many years until the British documentary ‘Death in Bollywood’ interviewed him for his side of the story on Jiah Khan’s rise to stardom and death.
Now after he has been declared not guilty, several media houses approached him for an interview and he obliged. There are two things that he mentioned in these interviews that we had no idea about. The first is Jiah was the breadwinner of her family since she started her acting career and the second is, Sooraj was the one who opted to have a trial to prove his innocence when he could have walked out 13 years ago.
