Despite them not saying it, lots of actors in Bollywood are inspired by Aamir Khan. If not inspired, they definitely envy him. Aamir is at a position where he can do any role he wants, take as much time in shooting his film and when he releases it, it beats out the box office collection of all the other films.

Still, even the biggest of all stars isn’t that secure. He never used to think that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were his competition. Then the one thing that everyone thought would never happened, happened: Salman started to act and do good films that went on to be big hits at the box office. But despite all that, Aamir Khan has never showed it.

Yes, he might have had a fight with both Shah Rukh and Salman at one point, he pretty much lets his hard work do the talking. In an interview with DNA recently, Aamir talked about the actors, whose work inspired him. He had previously spoken about Ranbir Kapoor some time back and was dying to know his working process, especially his thought process before he gave every shot.

Ranbir said there was no thought process and Aamir didn’t believe him. That conversation was done on Live TV at the Indian of the Year Awards. Aamir says he feels inspired by good performances not by actors, which is the right thing to say. Here he is in his own words.

Aamir on who he competes with

If there is anyone I am competing with it’s myself. It doesn’t mean I don’t consider Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan as great actors, they are wonderful. Not just them, we have some great actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan. I am not a competitive person when I see good work of others I love it.

Aamir on feeling happy to see his colleagues doing good work

When I saw ‘Sultan’, ‘Dabangg’ I loved it. When I saw ‘Munnabhai..’, I liked Sanju (Sanjay Dutt). I feel happy when I see my colleagues doing great work, it inspires me. When I see work of Ranveer or Ranbir I feel inspired.

Aamir on trying to be better

I am trying to better myself. As a creative person, as an artist I am trying to improve myself. I am trying to do better as a creative person and not from business point of view.
