Technically, that’s not what she said but it is pretty much what she is implying. Since there is no relevant blind item today, let’s go with the popular reader’s choice today (actually, just one reader’s choice) and share this news article from Mumbai Mirror.
You are all pretty much aware of the controversy that Ananya Panday got herself in these past few days. No, it’s not ‘Student of the Year 2’ but something else that she said without thinking about the consequences.
Take a look, courtesy of Mumbai Mirror.
Too cool for school?
ANANYA Panday’s debut film may have opened to mixed reviews, but no one can deny a star is born. Panday, however, is no stranger to the brickbats. Just a few days ago, some girls on social media had called her out for faking acceptance into US universities.
One comment read, “Our school has a set of counsellors and we all know where everyone’s applying and going. Ananya didn’t even get assigned a counsellor because she always said she wanted to act or take a gap year.
All of a sudden in March when USC released its decisions, she started saying she got accepted! But she didn’t even apply because our school conducts mock SATs which she never took. Everyone asked her to show her acceptance letter but she kept saying it’s lost.”
Ananya, who did her grade 12 from Dhirubhai Ambani International School, says she isn’t bothered by this. “Once a film is out, people start making up stuff. I have no idea who this person is.”
Mum Bhavana says Ananya was accepted to a university in Los Angeles as well as New York University but deferred her admission by a year, and then eventually gave up her seat this January.
First of all, admitting that you rejected college to be in films is a dumb move, especially when it was for a film like ‘Student of the Year 2’. On top of that, your claims are proven to be fake and you are called out on your lies…
If she was so interested to be in films, why lie about the college thing?
If you notice all these star kids or young adults from filmy families, they are pretty much just sitting around and waiting to be launched. Going for further studies is not really on their mind, they might spend a semester studying acting at an acting school, most probably the same one that Ranbir went too, but as far as getting a degree is concerned…
Let’s see when Suhana Khan will make her debut, she’s from the same group. She has been dreaming about it for a while now, but her dad did say she has to get a degree first.
Also, serious question we have been thinking about for a while now. Does Dhirubhai Ambani International School dare to fail star kids or filmy kids? Or do they have to fake pass them? ‘Cause you know, the annual fees to this school is not cheap and these celeb kids help make this school popular thus making it look like the hotspot for rich people to send their kids.
Imagine paying such fees and your kid doesn’t pass?
Actually, these kids going away to college will be the true test of their academic capabilities, especially the ones whose parents can’t influence these foreign colleges and universities with money.
Frankly speaking though, getting a college education does not come cheap so why should these parents waste their money sending their kids to get a degree when they will never use it. Better, send them off to some acting school and that’s it!
Wonder how many of these parents truly think this way.
Reddit has a massive thread on this topic.
Why is it important to her to show that she has been accepted in those universities. She must realised that education is important and wanted to look smart in the eyes of people but sadly that’s not the case .😂
man kjo knows how to make sure his minions are talked about 24/7
Ambani Ambani everywhere….not a soul who can think??
All nepo babies attend Kjo orientation before they join BW . Kjo starts off with a note .. ” Everyone is jealous of you” .
hahahaha…because you are dharma kids. the media house that produces great content and talent like Kalank and SOTY2.
I’m not going to take her side in this article, but your whole point about the school passing these kids through other measures isn’t accurate.
That’s coz the Board that the school follows is such that they have no control over any exams. IBDP exams are conducted at centres and each question in each paper is corrected by a different teacher somewhere in the world. There’s no way for the teacher to know whose paper it is, or what country it’s from.
Each question goes through 3 random tutors who grade it separately, then an average is taken.
So, there’s no way for you to pass IBDP without studying hard for it.
I don’t know what score she got though. I got a 37/45.
Honestly ,there should be pre requirements by BW, that all future artists should have done at least one month of social work,in their coummunities, during their high school, time ! At least then these nepo kids will learn what other young people have gone through at their age! This is why these nepo kids living in bubble really are empty vessels ,BW !
They live in bubble, let them be there
Education is so important; how foolish of ananya to even think that people are jealous of her? Another aloo in the making!
@Admin: USC was in the news recently for the college bribery scam. Most of these students have options to study abroad paid by their rich parents. Have you heard of the term lawnmower parenting? That’s what rich Indian parents do.
Exactly, rich parents… 😉
Helicopter parenting. Tiger Moms/Dads. Lawnmover parenting. 🙂 But I feel its also what kills the innovation/entrepreneurial spirit in kids. Just creates very successful, rich cogs in the wheel.
Having said that, its easier for Indian/Chinese and other foreign students to get into the Universities in the US then for American kids. Grades, SAT scores, and extra-curricular achievement standards are much more stringent for them. US universities need the money foreign kids pay as tuition etc. Also, I’d bet none of Dhirubhai Ambani kids can’t break through IIT-JEE, NEET or NTSE in India.
The first nepo kid to fake foreign University acceptance though is our very own Poo/Bebo.
