August 2018 – Bollywood Blind Item 2

The blind item for today is not really about Bollywood, but about the rich Indian people of Mumbai. They are the richest of them all and you remember how they celebrated their son’s engagement this year. There was a pre-engagement ceremony, the engagement and then the post-engagement party. It was almost a month of celebration. Well, they are rich people and that’s how they party.

For sure, things have changed for them. It looks like it changed when they moved into their sprawling villa – the tallest one in Mumbai. Since then, they have needed every reason to party and when they do have a party, everyone famous in Mumbai has to be there; even the ones who don’t like to party!

With this coming wedding, they will surely do it bigger to get more attention. The blind item below is talking about how this wedding might just see this very famous singer perform. Now we don’t know how true it is, they surely have the money to make it happen. We are just wondering whether this singer still performs privately. Of course, these famous singers have even performed for the biggest dictators. For the right price, they used to be able to put on a show for anyone. But, times are different now.

These people are rich, but are not the Obamas. Let’s wait and see whether money does matter in this case or are they going to get the next best thing come over. Who is the next best thing, though?

Check out the blind item from Hindustan Times.

Even as news comes in that a football field in South Carolina has to be fully replaced after hosting a Jay-Z and Beyonce concert (gulp), word comes in that the princess of R&B, Miss Bootilicious, herself, is most likely to perform at the imminent nuptials of a major business clan from Mumbai. “There are serious talks on, even as we speak,” said a source, “And Miss Bey (as she is known in the media), could well be roped in to be one of the star performers at the wedding, later this year”.

Interestingly, our sources could not shed light on the venue of this standout gig. “We are not sure if she was contacted to perform in India or at one of the European destinations chosen for the pre-wedding celebrations,” they say. “Just that, in every likelihood it’s more or less a done deal.” Of course, this will not be the first time the singer-songwriter and actress has performed for Indian audiences.

In 2007, she had performed in Mumbai as part of The Beyonce Experience – 2007 World Tour, known as a ‘kind-of-secret Beyonce concert’ for its relatively low profile. “I flew a long way to see how you party in India. I am sure you party hard,” she’d said to the audience that had included Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Sridevi. This time around, given the import of the occasion, her audience will be equally, if not more, high-profile, for sure!

    1. Wait a minute here, what you mean wedding later this year? Didnt Ambani’s son got hitched already? With all those actors dancing to the tune of the ambanis? That big fanfare wasnt actually the wedding? :-0 I read food dropped from the sky, the engagement was grand, or was there two or three or was it four engagements? Jeez I guess when you have money to spend you better spend it. But after that enormous, whatever they call it, can you imagine the actual wedding?

    2. nita ambani seems to have a huge bollywood stars fixation. all those parties everytime and inviting bollywood stars always.

      1. Obsession too Sharuna…so much so that they got Yale to give Shah Rukh the Chubb fellowship (usually given to Novel prize winners and Academics) …the Ambanis donated hugely to both Yale and Stanford where Isha studied. Isha had ‘established’ the South Asian club at Yale University, and in typical Ambani style called an actor to do his thumkas there because apparently we have no one better to represent the South Asian nations. BTW I find it hard to believe that Desis had no representative club at Stanford before Ms. Ambani ‘established’ the South Asian club.

I also think having all their kids study in their own Ambani International School was a good way to control their educational profile before applying to Universities abroad. This is not uncommon. Down South, Superstar Rajnikanth and actor Mohan Babu’s kids are dumb as hell – both sets of parents opened or invested in schools and colleges swhere they managed to get their kids educated.

All of which is their problem until they start to interfere in the lives of regular Indians so they can make profit. In the 10+ years since the Ambani school has opened, not a single kid has cracked any of the top positions in any competitive exams in India – IITs, AIIMS, IAS, IPD, not even Science and Math Olympiads. These are the kind of people who are now going to open Centres of Excellence in education. Who do you think they would honor more, academics or actors?

God save our kids and their future!
