Barack Obama on Donald Trump as President

Soon after Hillary Clinton gave her thoughts on Donald Trump being elected President of the United States, current President Barack Obama gave a press conference to speak about Trump. Taking the high road, like Hillary Clinton, did, President Obama wished Trump the best and said that he gave him a call soon after the results were announced to congratulate him. It must have taken a lot to do that since Obama has been the biggest critic of Trump since he announced he was running for office. But now that it’s all done, he hopes that Trump will do what’s best for America. Read on what Obama has to say about Trump and how he didn’t deny that he doesn’t like Trump. There could be a reason why both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama didn’t give a speech the night the winner of the election 2016 was announced: they both needed to calm down before they freak the hell out! It’s true because both of them were so composed and calm when they gave their speech the day after. Obama should have at least asked the American people WHY.

President Barack Obama on not liking Donald Trump

It is no secret that the President-elect and I have some pretty significant differences. We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading the country.

Barack Obama on this is what Americans voted for

That’s the way politics works sometimes. We try really hard to persuade people that we’re right and then people vote. And then if we lose, we learn from our mistakes, we do some reflection, we lick our wounds, we brush ourselves off, we get back in the arena, we go at it. We try even harder the next time.

Obama on remembering to be Americans first

Everybody is sad when their side loses an election, but the day after we have to remember that we’re actually all on one team. This is an intramural scrimmage. We’re not Democrats first. We’re not Republicans first. We are Americans first. We’re patriots first.

We all want what’s best for this country,” he went on. “That’s what I heard in Mr. Trump’s remarks last night. That’s what I heard when I spoke to him directly. And I was heartened by that.
