A big film was announced about two months back. It’s big because it features a variety of actors and we have been wondering since how can this production house afford this many actors in just one film! They surely must have gotten a new financier to support their films or perhaps, it’s the result of the numerous jobs that the boss of this production house had to do to make money. Whatever it is, this film has already started shooting and apparently, the actress in it is a little pissed that she hasn’t been called to shoot for her parts yet.
Well, since it’s a pretty big film, maybe her time will come later. As far as we know, not everyone has shot for their parts. Only 2 to 4 actors have been shooting. We don’t know why she is complaining because she is working on another film that is pretty much based on her character. Maybe she’s just feeling the heat because the other actors shooting for this film get to post stuffs on the sets regarding this film on their social media.

What a terrible negative name for a film! Sounds like from the 80s. Yuck. Like who has ever used that word in their life?

No one is willing to pay DP what she is asking for because there is enough skepticism for Padmavati’s box office, industry insiders know well how the karni sena game helped bring audience to theaters and DP’s performance was nothing to speak of. So her PR is sending out these articles to signal to producers she is “available but won’t play for any less” and she is waiting it out because she has time but producers/financiers are short on time. Classic bargaining strategy.
Yeah ok but is what she’s asking for that crazy? I heard its still less than what an Arjun Kapoor gets paid… and i’m sure if the right project came along she would reduce her price like she did for Piku. I’m just wondering if there’s any more to this story…
Karni sena or not. Nothing changes the fact that Padmavat did mint money at the theaters. Deepika was used as the face of the movie and kinda did headline the movie. Obviously the movie wasn’t success just because of Deepika’s presence but if Alia gets the credit of Raazi’s success and be crowned as the queen why must Deepika be deprived of credit.

it kinda sounds true but its so depressing. every other actress is signing movies left right and centre and the one who gave a 300 cr film that didnt star a Khan is struggling to find work? some of the comments on this PV piece suggested people are miffed that she spoke out about pay parity and think she is unsignable now for that reason. so so depressing…

Thanks for sharing….It looks like she wants to take it slow and select better roles. Working with big banners like YRJ or Dharma is not going to get her anywhere unless she signs those 15-minute roles with item songs being what her character does in the film. See, YRF has Vaani set for glamour roles and Rani for a strong woman lead role. Deepika is not going to fit anywhere there. Dharma has Aloo and Kareena, plus they are launching these new girls. Again, DP doesn’t fit there. So that leaves her with these small production houses that actually produce women-centric films. She did sign one with Vishal, then Irrfan fell sick. She is still reading and meeting with directors, so she might just sign a new film soon. Let’s just wait and see.

Yes, but it has to be a really big-budget film since Hrithik’s fees eat up much of the film’s budget.

Media partner has to do with dealing with news regarding the film they signed up for. These include news reports, box office reports, interviews and video interviews. Hearsay gossip is not part of it unless they are getting paid to post these. Also, we have already discussed this before. KJo didn’t invest in PV, he just tips them off on gossips. If he had that much spare money, he wouldn’t be working a million jobs.

I love Deepika but i have always wondered why none of the other actresses get along with her. She comes across as a sweet and humble person.

It’s usually normal and standard. Maybe she is waiting to hit them back when she signs a film.
NewGirl, At their peak Vyjayanthimala, Asha Parekh, Sridevi, Madhuri, Hema etc did not have friends either among their peers, they may have been friends with other female actresses who did ‘Art’ movies or played character actresses, but never their peers. Even Ash and Rani fell out during their peak. Its only after their career ended that they were friends.
Here’s the thing. Assume A, B, C, D, and E are actresses. Now, for almost all top roles the competition is with A on one side, and B, C, D, and E wanting her roles and No.1 position. Its unlikely that they would be on good terms with A. This is also true for men competing for top positions in Corporates and Politics. If one person gets all the promotions and positions that 10 other people want, the 10 others will work to bring that one person down. In fact, when men do this in politics and business, they are admired for their ‘top dog’ (think Dhirubhai Ambani, or even Modi) position. If women do this, its ‘cat-fighting’.
Thankfully DP has realized this and maintains a polite relationship with others, and goes about her job. Others are clueless. Interesting fact: Around the time DP changed (2012) Sridevi called DP one of the most promising actresses of her generation. Six years later, look where she is.
As for Sonam and Swara, and their ‘sisterhood’, I will only say this. ‘Sisterhood’ is tribalism, not feminism.

Regarding the 10th item on your list. It’s true that DP’s PR pulled that gimmick that she is playing a wonderwoman type of character in a 300 crore film. Later when they realized that it was receiving flak,they sent an updated post saying there is no such film with DP. You can read it over here –

Major digital entertainment portals who ran the article that her super-hero movie is not happening are Bollywood Hungnam, Skj — both these publications editors are not on very good terms with Dp and kind of low-key hate her. And from these websites few other small websites copy-pasted the news.
Other major entertainment portals like Filmfare,pinkvilla, Mumbai mirror etc.. said the project’s happening .
P.s—- So i’ll wait till full details are out before i pass any judgement .
@pooja, it’s up to you to believe or not… The pr teams release different news via different outlets… Also skj has written some very nice posts of dp too… He will probably criticize when it needs to and will shower praises wherever it deserves.
Regarding the 4th item, whatever was written in the article were the true happenings. Bharathi pradhan’s book is releasing on 11th June 2018. She is actively promoting her book by releasing various snippets from her soon to be launched book.. This was not a pr act from a rival camp as much as people want to believe. The articles from bharathi are both flattery and dismissive of pc. Just today there was an article from PV regarding pc’s cosmetic procedures. Why would pc would want to promote such book. Anyways, the quotes from the book are coming directly from people themselves. Why would SLB, omang etc speak lies in that?
I think all the list above are not exactly planted by rival prs.. Maybe some of them.. It would be naive of us to think all the rivals are doing is ganging against dp… I think they have other things to do than keep a tab on a competitor full-time.
@amanda….. Skj is someone who writes articles , or comments according to his personal likes and dislikes , he lacks objectivity. Every credible journalist including Rajeev masand is calling Prerna Arora a scorn woman and a producer who does bad deals , but Skj goes around praising her and talks as if world did her wrong.

P.s— If there are few negative articles on someone i would believe they are random articles. But multiple negative articles over last two months, nope it does look like someone’s out to get her. Out of the list only ram-leela one might be genuine media published.
We have to accept the fact that actors and actresses pr play dirty whenever they get a chance, so people should stop talking as if only Dp play’s the pr game and people should stop crying foul when Dp’s pr retaliates.
@pooja,these pr games are like egg and chicken.. You don’t know where it started and who started, but it will be an ongoing battle.. As a DP fan,you will feel someone is out to get her and DP ‘s pr just retaliates… Have you at least once thought that her pr might have provoked someone at some point in time and now they are retaliating back?
I am no fan of DP or PC or Kareena or for that matter any BW stars.. I enjoy good work coming from anyone and that’s it.. I want to view this whole pr thing more objectively and at this time,I choose to stay neutral on this pr matter…
Fan usually trust the sites which usually write positive about their favs.. I dont believe SKJ completely but not all journalist have an agenda all the time…As I said before believing and not believing any site is entirely your call…
Regarding 300 crores superwoman film with DP,I hope its true. Because,financially it is not feasible in BW and to add to that,recently all superhero films have flopped… None of the BW directors are capable of handling a superhero/heroine film… Many fans don’t even want krrish 3 to materialize..

Every entertainment portal let it be Bollywood Hungma ( personal fav salman bhai), pv( Kjo official pr), Krk box-office (they love varun,deepika,kiara ali,tiger) , filmfare( they love all nepo kids—personal favs sonam,alia and kareena), bollywood life, dna,TOI, Deccan Chronicle have their personal favourite stars . So you see less negative articles about these stars on their portals.
Some portals are not inclined towards few stars , and you see a pattern in the way they publish articles about these stars . It’s not about me not-trusting few portals cause they write negative articles about my favourite , it’s just me double-Questioning on how honest the article is since the the portal or person who penned the article( or the portal ) is biased.
Can’t say anything on that super-hero project unless someone officially confirm or deny or say something. But i really wish to see such huge projects headlined by women happen someday in future.
