Whatever they say about how this actor is perfect for this film, it was clear from the beginning that the actor regretted signing up for this movie. Going back to December 2016 when Sanjay Dutt thought Ranbir Kapoor is too soft to play him, it seems he was cornered into playing Sanjay Dutt onscreen. See, he was supposed to do ‘PK’ but when Fatty ki SugaDaddy heard the script, he wanted to do it and Raymond was given a small appearance at the end of the film.
The director then promised Raymond that he will give him his next film and that next film was ‘Sanju’ then titled ‘Dutt’.
Raymond ki Amma once said that her laadla has a problem when he has to say, “No”. Obviously, she meant that for the ladies in his life because he didn’t know how to ditch them or to say No to them, but we think he generally has a problem with saying, “No”. If he didn’t want to play a criminal onscreen, he should have just refused the role. If he really liked the role and the character that he was signed on to play, we wouldn’t have gotten a barrage of articles and blind items regarding this film.
Let’s not also forget how Raymond was apparently the main culprit, who leaked this audio of Sanju whinning about how his friends didn’t bother about him or his family when he was in jail. Remember when Sanju was granted a couple of days off from being a prisoner? He held a party at his home and called friends and some of these youngsters. Raymond was one of them and he was also in the group of people that had to listen to Sanju complaining about his supposedly BFFs. Only he knows why he recorded that moment and proceeded to leak it. Till date, Sanju has no idea who did it, but everyone else who were present pointed fingers at Raymond. After all, who better than the Gossip Girl of Bollywood to share this hot gossip? But, is this because Sanju was complaining about how this guy didn’t want to help him anymore:

I dont know what happened to ranbir. he was so cute in wake up sid, barfi and YJHD. and he seemed detached like he had a life and interests outside bollywood, which made him seem cool. staying off social media and keeping his relationship with kat on the downlow was good for his image.
i think the 3 flops besharam roy and bombay velvet made him massively insecure. and then he lost a fortune over jagga jasoos. he needed karan to rescue him with ADHM and unfortunately that meant getting pulled into dharma PR games. i’m guessing he doesnt have the guts to say no to producers asking him to drum up buzz with alia because he cant afford for these movies to lose money.
but as a once-fan of RK i find it hard to sympathise with him now. i’m a huge DP fan but i couldnt help feeling sorry for kat. they were together for what 5-6 years? living together (which is a big deal in india). she clearly thought a proposal was underway. even if she did get insecure over the tamasha PR, it was his job to make her feel secure (like i am guessing DP did with RS).
to then pack up and leave when she wasnt even in town was a low-blow and i cant help thinking the underlying reason was she wasnt as big a star anymore, she was getting older, she had a spate of flops and he needed to reinvent his image, hence the hook-up with younger, buzzier alia who is the flavour of the day.

Movie looks so comical. Ranbir is barely above average just like his new so called friend Aloo ka Paratha. This movie is going to be a big joke, the costume looks like Kaho Nah Pyaar Hain. In a month the things have reached from confession of love to marriage and now latest to have kids. Some of the media articles are even too funny.. RK looks so tired like he has almost given up on acting., If you see interview with Rajeev, and he ask what change Aaloo has brought in him after there relationship and RK says how good she is as an actor and bla bla bla.. If you can read between the lines you can make out they are clearly faking it and they are still trying people to believe them.. I hope RK show some versatility in playing the characters… He is trying his best and is unable to figure out..All the best to the film..

I LOVED Ranbir when he started out. Wake Up Sid, Rockstar, Barfi and ofcourse Rocket Singh. That’s an impressive list for the first 4/5 years in the industry. Even in his flops like Jagga or Tamasha, he’s still in good form. Too bad he has ruined it with all the mess in his personal life.

Why anybody would think to make a movie about a has-been, out of work, not-so-talented, criminal, MCP actor is beyond me. With or without whitewashing, Ranbir or Ranveer, I just do not care at all about watching this film. This blind explains a lot. Because Ranbo was looking so bored, uninterested (as if he would rather be somewhere else) in most of the pics from the promotion, I watched some of his interviews to see if I was right about my assumption. His interviews were so dull and he seem to be on auto pilot mode. He never was the most engaging person in interviews but he was better than most actors who mumbles or give incoherent answers. Looks like he really is not confident about the movie. Also Vidhu saying that he was not happy at all when Hirani suggested Ranbir’s name because he thought Ranveer would have been better choice and it was after watching Ranbo’s performance he was convinced he was the right choicr, makes me think the blame game has already started between Hirani and Vidhu.

@leap I agree. What Vidhu did was uncalled for and it undermined the movie. Raju is giving interviews saying that Ranbir was always the first choice and producer is saying he considered someone else for the role and he was only convinced Raju’s choice was right after he saw Ranbir act. Mind you, Ranveer was never offered the script nor was he in the talks for the movie. Why bring it up now when the movie is yet to release unless he still has some doubt about it?

IMO SRK, Ranveer, Vidya, Kangana, PC (Indian interviews) are the only people who are articulate, engaging and witty in interviews. All others either try too hard to parrot whatever they are fed by their prs or are inarticulate or keep on rambling or are very boring.

The movie is not showing Sanjay’s life accurately.. Many scenes depict Sanjay to be a victim of circumstances which is not the truth…Sanjay exactly knew what he was getting into… He was seriously a participator of the terrorism act which is never shown in the movie.. He should thank his stars,his father’s and sister’s political connections and a superstar mother’s goodwill in the industry that has helped him stay away from jail most of the time.. He really never spent much time in the jail… Also all the abuse the women in his life had to take.. All the dark chapters of his life are white washed and I don’t see any reason why I should bother to go and watch it… I know more details about Sanjay’s life than what is depicted in the film… Ranbir hardly has real fans and Baba’s fans have vanished over a period of time… I suspect this film will flop at BO..
If RK really wants to bring his career back on track,he should improve his personal life and bring in certain discipline .. Make peace with past GFs and stop spreading gossip about various people…A little effort in telling “NO” to scripts he doesn’t like,will come to his rescue as well…
@amanda….. Your right Sanju can either revive his career or might prove to be a huge mistake. Trade is positive about Sanju but they can’t say the same for his next lineup. Ranbir has a bad-script sense. I mean why Brahmastra and shamshera??? They’ll definitely turn out be big flops if they are not handled properly. I mean he’s an industry kid, he def gets all the best scripts and directors, but he chooses the wrong ones.
I don’t think ranbir will ever change cause he himself feels that nothing is wrong with him. Frankly speaking his support system i.e neetu, kjo, aayan.. Etc are elitist, mean ,manipulative and trashy, so can’t see them bringing any positive change in his attitude.

Even hirani in presscon said ranbir gets his script choices wrong . One main reason his fans want an outsider in his life is that he needs a fresh outsider outlook which to be honest he needs
If Ranbir doesn’t know how to select scripts I’m sure there are people with more knowledge who will help him. But I think with stardom has come some baggage. Ranbir is not doing movies like wake up sid, Rocket Singh salesman anymore. He just wants to go with tried and tested formula romance movies with big banners and top heroines. He doesn’t go to new directors but after they give a hit or two only then wants to work with them by which time their new ideas are exhausted and most probably the movie is not anything new. Case in point Luv Ranjan. Audience is not stupid to pay to watch you do the same thing again and again.
Moreover because of his image he has more people hating him than fans. Aamir Khan also has a lot of haters but his movies are so good people are compelled to watch and praise. But Ranbir movies are nowadays mediocre and his acting looks like he is trying too hard. So obviously not many people are interested in watching him on screen.
