Bollywood Blind Item – March 2020 – 19

Things are going good for this actor since he experienced the biggest hit of his career. Just like the last time he went through the same thing, this time too his ego got bigger!

To be fair, many actors do feel this way. They have problem playing second lead opposite an actress. That’s why you see these female-centric films where the leading actresses are cast opposite new heroes or actors you have never heard of.

Unless it’s through connections, like KJo had with SRK to have him appear in Aloo’s film or a star doing a personal favour, it’s not likely a male star will play second fiddle to a leading heroine.

So the blind item below is not a surprise, especially when it involves this actor who always think he is better than his female co-stars.

Check out the blind item below from PinkVilla. By the way, this film is still in pre-planning stages, the actress has not yet sign on the dotted line so there’s more work to do before this happens. Besides, she has many more projects on her plate so this one will have to wait.

This actor who delivered a huge hit refused a woman centric film that stars his favourite co star

For the longest time, discussions about pay disparity and sexism in the industry have hit headlines. In fact, with women centric films now bringing in great numbers at the box office, many producers are willingly putting in revenue on such projects.

One might think times are changing, but they clearly aren’t. The lack of representation in terms of A-list heroes in such films is staggering as heroines continue to make do with smaller actors opposite them.

Such is the case with this duo. In fact, they have already been seen together in two films – one that was unconventional and brought rave reviews and saw good returns while another one clearly didn’t make the cut at the ticket counters.

Despite the movie being a damp squib, the male actor always maintained that the heroine is his ‘favourite co-star’. He has expressed his affection towards her in several interviews as well.

Recently, the actress was signed on to for another woman centric political drama, to be bankrolled by a big banner. When the film was being planned with her, the makers went ahead and approached our Gen Y star to step in for the project. But he flatly refused.

Why? Because he feels he’s a bigger star than her today, after her last film failed to deliver and he gave a huge blockbuster last year. But he conveniently forgot that while the actress has gifted some terrific successes on her own accord, the male counterpart saw solo success after ages.

He told the makers that he’s not comfortable playing second fiddle to her, given the current scenario and his positioning. This news reached our pretty lady and someone tells us that she’s miffed with her actor buddy for turning the movie down for this reason. Well, sometimes success can also cost you a few friends!

    1. Maybe the role is not interesting and he refused it. Shahid may have an attitude problem but he is a very talented actor and started his career much earlier than Alia, why would he play a small and not interesting role in Alia Bhatt movie just because KJ says so.

    2. If this is true, I see nothing wrong with it.
It’s the way bollywood is, after his series of flops, life went on!
The only reason they remembered him now is because of Kabir Singh
Quite frankly he can choose to reply however he seems fit
Women centric movie or not, he is not bound by any commitment just because ‘he enjoys working with her’ how will that role add value to his brand? If not by much, he made the right choice.

    4. Let Shahid enjoy his success he has worked so hard for this and it’s too early for him to do favors like SRK. He may do it after10 years. KJo and his team should stop exploiting his success

    5. if the role is meaty and the script very good, the heroes should not miss the opportunity, i feel. They can approach a younger actor

    6. Knowing how KJo and his minion Aloo works, this is not a bas decision by Shahid. They would have rolled him over by promoting this film as an Alia Bhatt movie. Who would want that immediately after giving your career best movie in terms of numbers?
It’s Bollywood, everybody does that! I remember when Bipasha was kinda hit and she refused starring opp Emran citing he is shorter than her!

    7. Kjo does this many times to many outsiders. Finally, aloo paratha knows how does rejection feel… It’s good that finally sk gave snobbish aloo paratha and kjo taste of their own medicines. Kjo will easily get another actor for this movie. Example: kjo’s new puppet kartik aryan. But yes, arrogance seems to have sk hard, hopefully with next release of his movie, he mellows down. They anyways remote control rk, so why don’t they get rk on board for this??

    8. KJo is mad Shahid said “no”? Can you blame him? Credit for Jab We Met was given to Kareena, Padmaavat was given to Deepika and the media made him look like a bitter person at the aftermath of those films. I don’t blame him for his decision
