What is it with this director and the number of projects that he manages to secure without having a decent record? Honestly, it’s unheard of in Bollywood. Maybe the only director, who is like him is Ram Gopal Varma because the man keeps on making films even though no one is interested to watch them at the cinemas.

This guy, though, has managed to secure one big project after the after. His last film, the box office records were not so great so that they had to ‘pretend’ that it did manage to break records. Truth is truth is right? Still, this top actor actually signed up again to work with this director. It’s strange because the director announced a big Hollywood remake earlier this year and by the end of the year, he had secured another project with a top star and a happening young star to be produced by the biggest movie production company in Bollywood.

How did he do that? No word on whether that Hollywood remake is still on. Maybe it wasn’t really happening so he found something else to do that starred the same young actor he signed for that Hollywood remake. We have spoken about this before, how this director likes to take his family on holidays while going for his films’ recce. Recce locations is when the director and people working in the film scout for locations to film the movie. Everyone does that, but this director brings his family and treats them to a holiday that is paid for by the movie production company or his producers.

This blind item is about this guy and this crazy idea that he had, but he dared not bring it up to the producer himself. So what did he do? He asked the top star to talk to the producer about it. There are some people in our industry who employ their hard work and creativity on everything except the films they are making!

Take for example this director who, despite having a pretty underwhelming track record at the box office, keeps managing to get one plum assignment after the other, thanks mainly to his excellent PR with viable stars. True to form, he managed to land a high-profile project with an exciting star cast. And even truer to form, he is busy paying attention to stuff other than actually making a good film.

His latest brainwave was to rename the film so that it seemed to be a part of the production house’s blockbuster franchise property. Knowing that his own request wouldn’t hold much water, he managed to convince the superstar starring in the film that this was the way to go and that he (the superstar) should discuss this with the banner’s big boss. The superstar did so and, after a patient hearing, was given a polite but firm No!’ from the head honcho.

Note to Mr Director: There are no shortcuts to true success pal!
