As you know, there have been lots of controversies surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. It seems that all is well now since the whole team has started working on the film and the first shot was taken earlier this week. One of the film’s lead stars, Deepika Padukone, spoke about her she thinks she is lucky to have gotten to do ‘Padmavati’. Rumour has it that her role in this film is a good one and she gets to have the attention of both Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in it as well. Deepika Padukone on the roles that she has done

It’s not a conscious decision. Those are the kind of roles that have been coming my way. You can call it my instincts or the timing, but that’s what I’m also attracted to. I think there’s a time and place for everything, so it’s not like I consciously pursue a film like Padmavati. It landed in my lap, and I think certain films are destined to have you in them. Either ways, destiny plays a major role, as certain films aren’t meant for you.It seems you are choosing one tough role after another.

Deepika on the challenge that awaits her in Padmavati

This one just fell in my lap, and it’s so exciting that I have been given an opportunity to play such a powerful role. Padmini is someone who is worshipped by so many people. [The film] is something that I am extremely proud of, and I feel very lucky that something like this came my way. It’s going to be a very tough six months.

Deepika on whether she prepares for a film role

Yes, but every actor has a different way of approaching their work, their roles, how they recuperate [after wrapping up the film], and how they get into their next project. I also follow a certain system and I am ready to take this [film] head on.
