You can keep your house clean by sweeping floors after meals or snacks or whenever you feel that your house needs some scrubbing. When mopping the floors, you might want to use a solution of ¼ cup bleach to 2 cups water as this solution is very handy in deterring future visits from ants.

    Other methods of getting rid of ants in the house include using white vinegar as remedy. Ants also do not like the taste of cucumber so you might want to also consider placing small slices or pieces of cucumbers in the affected areas as that will definitely get them to leave your home. Spraying soap water on entry points of the ants or cabinets will also effectively get rid of the ants. Another way is to crush dried mint leaves into powder and spread them in areas that are prone to ants or alternatively, use mint tea bags. Other spices that might also work to repel ants include cayenne pepper powder, chili pepper powder, laurel leaves and extracts of citrus fruits. Strongly aromatic spices such as cinnamon or clove are also useful repellents but are not as common. If you want a simpler and direct method of killing ants, you can use boiling water to wash ants off your kitchen sink and counter tops or you can also pour water over any ant mounds discovered in your yard.

You need to allocate extra time after the spraying to allow the fresh air to ventilate your house so that you can minimize the inhalation of the chemicals. The exterminator will usually provide you further instructions and advice to prevent ants from visiting so be sure you follow them because that will be the final touch that will lead to your victory in your battle with the ants. Ants might be strong in an army but they are can definitely be defeated if you play your part.
