It was predicted a couple of months ago that Hrithik Roshan will announce his separation as soon as ‘Krrish 3’ proved to be a success at the box office and sure enough today was the day Hrithik Roshan decided to officially announce his separation from his wife Sussanne Khan Roshan after 13 years of marriage.
When the rumour came out some time after Hrithik’s brain surgery, there was no reason not to believe it. The signs were all there and there was definitely trouble in the Roshans Jr. paradise. Here’s Hrithik’s official statement confirming the separation, watch out how he nicely puts the blame on Sussanne.
Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship. This is a very trying time for the entire family and I request the media and the people to grant us our privacy at this time.
I do not wish this news to disempower my fans and the people about the institution of marriage in any way. I am a firm believer in this institution and respect and honour it at the highest level… And once again I thank my fans for all the concern and prayers for my health, my treatment is going well and I should be able to resume my life in every way very soon. Thank you
Hrithik stating that it was his wife, who left not him, could be because he had hoped that she would come back after leaving their home several months ago. It was at Rakesh Roshan’s birthday some months back that people noticed how Sussanne came and went with her parents. Because ‘Krrish 3’ was ready for release, Sussanne, Hrithik and their families denied any separation rumours. Today after Hrithik issued his statement on the separation, Sussanne also made a small and decent statement.
We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices. We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that. Would appreciate if we are given our privacy in such a time. As much as we would love to speculate on what really happened, it is has to be taken into consideration how being the wife of a successful superstar might be difficult. Not just any star, but someone who is too much into his work and body. All these years, Suzanne has been the doting wife following Hrithik here and there. And she also took care of the kids and was spotted with them all the time. It was only after the successful release of ‘Krrish 3’ that Hrithik was spotted with his kids Hrehaan, 7 and Hridhaan, 5 having fun at a theme park. Prior to that, Hrithik was also spotted celebrating Ganpathi festival with his sons and family excluding Sussanne.
It took 4 years to shoot ‘Krrish 3’ and throughout these 4 years, Hrithik has suffered a number of body complications – from his head to his knee! Though Sussanne stood by Hrithik at all times, it was clear by this blind item that she was no more in the mood to stick around and Hrithik too wanted to separate.
Media Again Not At Fault
While promoting ‘Krrish 3’ everywhere, Hrithik had to deny the separation rumours. Sussanne’s sister even went on to claim that the media was just making up stories because they had no interesting stories to report. I wonder what she will have to say now. Speaking of Sussanne’s family, it’s strange how everyone is still very close to Hrithik. They probably didn’t want her to go ahead with the separation, but Sussanne must have known what was best for her and Hrithik since she herself might have seen something similar while growing up.
Following Sussanne’s public statement, Hrithik who is currently on holiday somewhere outside India took to his Facebook to post the following message:
“This is my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me my love for her must accomplish that. Unconditional.”

Hrithik Roshan & Kareena Kapoor
All have not been well in the Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan Roshan marriage. At the beginning, there were already rumours of how Hrithik has gotten close to Kareena Kapoor, who was his co-star in ‘Yaadein’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, and ‘Main Prem Ki Diwaani Hoon’. Amidst all the heavy rumours including Kareena and Hrithik being spotted together on a plane by a columnist, Hrithik suddenly tied the knot. Still, the rumours continued until both the Kapoor and Roshan families decided that Hrithik and Kareena should not work together anymore. Sussanne, on the other hand, didn’t believe the rumours.
Yet the affair continued to be spoken of openly by otherwise-respected film journalists. Some cite the behavior of the stars themselves as evidence that the two were more than friends. For her part, Kareena denied the rumors, but in 2003 she gave an interview in which she made it a point to mention how personally painful it was to be in a secret relationship. Meanwhile, Hrithik attempted to dodge questions as to why he no longer worked with Kareena. At first, he claimed that they had never been offered any films together after 2003’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. When a journalist confronted him with the fact that he knew for certain they continued to be a sought-after jodi and had been offered at least four other films together, Hrithik backtracked, saying that none of those scripts had interested him. The real story, according to most sources, is that Hrithik consciously avoided working with Kareena, at least until he finally agreed to star with her in Zoya Akhtar’s Kismet Talkies, a film that never took off.
Hrithik Roshan & Barbara Mori
Some years down the line from the Hrithik and Kareena affair, rumours started coming up about an affair between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, who was his Mexican co-star in ‘Kites’. There have been huge denials from both Hrithik and Barbara and Sussanne too put in her two cents. Still, years after the Hrithik and Barbara affair is still being talked about. It is also said that this was when Sussanne realised that all was not hunky dory and that it was true.
Hrithik Roshan & Katrina Kaif
This came as a surprise to many. So far, there has been no exact confirmation regarding these two. There have been though two blind items and a couple of articles after that trying to do damage control that the blinds caused. Both blinds suggest that these two are definitely into each other and that their affair started way back when they were shooting ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.
Sussanne Roshan’s Friendship with Arjun Rampal and Mehr Rampal
While Hrithik was away working most of the time, Sussanne started hanging out with the Rampals. They got so close that they would be seen at a lot of events together. Little did Hrithik know that the Rampals played a huge part in Sussanne’s decision of leaving him. This is one of the reasons why Hrithik asked his agency to drop Arjun as a client and the reason why he’s also mad at Arjun. It’s strange considering they used to be thick friends at one time.
The Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan Roshan Divorce
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Roshan have finally filed for divorce months after Hrithik announced publicly their separation. Rumour has it that Sussanne got a whopping settlement, but only if they do get divorced which will be final in October 2014.
Though Hrithik tried his best to reconcile with Sussanne, the decision to file for divorce was mutual. Sussanne actually wanted to file for divorce months ago, instead of waiting around like Hrithik did.
Sussanne will also gain custody of the kids, Hrehaan and Hridhaan when the divorce is finalised. It does make sense as she has been the one to always look after their sons. In fact, since the separation Hrehaan and Hridhaan has been living in with Sussanne at her flat.
Sussanne Roshan’s Relationship with Rakesh and Pinky Roshan
Months before the separation announced came from Hrithik Roshan, there many many rumours doing the round. One of these rumours included the fact that Sussanne didn’t get along anymore with her in-laws Rakesh Roshan and Pinky Roshan, Hrithik’s parents. She wanted to live separately while Hrithik wanted to live with them. By the time that Hrithik agreed and even decided on another apartment, Sussanne already left. In fact Sussanne leaving was so sudden that it left Hrithik’s parents in shock. Four months before the family-produced film ‘Krrish 3’ were to release, Sussanne shocked Rakesh by knocking on his door and announcing that she is leaving.
