Karan Johar introduces Sridevi’s Daughter and Shahid Kapoor’s Brother in Dhadak

Nowadays, star kids have only one mission in mind as soon as they become teenagers: to be a Bollywood star. Before that can happen, they need to find themselves the perfect launchpad. Well, with papa KJo perving around, they have nothing to worry about as he seems to have taken on the heavy task of launching every star kid. It’s like he’s trying to find another Alia Bhatt aka someone, who will be able to make his home production money to keep it afloat. And we just had a vision of KJo asking them about their sex lives on the next season of Koffee with Karan

or maybe the KWK episode that will be made especially to launch these two!

or maybe the KWK episode that will be made especially to launch these two!

The reason why we didn’t bother putting their names in the title is because no one would have cared if we didn’t mention who they are related to. This is what Nepotism means. And to these Shahid Kapoor fans saying that his brother is not a star kid, they are wrong; it’s why KJo is launching him. In KJo’s own words, he is more drawn towards star kids than unknown actors because he thinks people are going to be excited to see the brother, sister, daughter, son and grandkid of a particular star instead of seeing someone they can’t relate or connect to. It’s what it is, actually. A connection that the audience makes with star kids instead of looking at unknown faces and wondering where they came from.

These two star kids in the posters below are Janhvi and Ishaan. No word on whether they plan on using only one name like Beyonce or will it be their surnames attached to the first names as well. Janhvi is 20 years old while Ishaan is 22 years old. You would think that after all these troubles that Sridevi went through in her youth, she would stop her daughter from making her debut this young. Unfortunately, Sridevi is looking forward to the day her daughter becomes a star so that their family can get back in the limelight and get attention the same way Alia Bhatt’s family and Sonam Kapoor’s family got.

Well, we can’t wait the day this film releases because then the gates are going to fly open to discuss the many procedures Janhvi had to go through to make her look like this. If anyone is hoping that Janhvi is as talented as her mother, well that’s a lost case because no actress these days can be as talented as Sridevi. To be able to emote perfectly with that many fixes on her face, that IS talent. And no, we are not joking.

    1. This article is so on spot! The very making of Dhadak goes against everything Sairat stood for! Caste excluded people from education, jobs, opportunities etc because of who and what community they were born into. It divided people into ‘us’ and ‘them’ based on nothing but parentage.. Isn’t Nepotism the new casteism?

      1. so well articulated Tina, nepotism is indeed the new castesim and tis cutting across boundaries and omnipresent in every industry, but most of all in bollywood, atleast elsewhere you need to put in some effort to benefit from nepotism, like a doctor who owns a hospital still needs his son to study to be a doctor before he takes over the hospital , but in bollywood all you need to do is knock on kjos door meet him and tadaaa next gen star already really sad.

      2. I do not understand Nepotism in private sector. KJO would have never made this movie if not to launch these star kids. If we crowd fund a movie and a committee of few people are in charge of auditions …I am pretty sure there will be people who will know someone from their friends and family to has talent and it all starts there. Do you consider that star kids parents invest in their kids movies ?? Some are born with talent some are born to parents with connections …Do you blame the Kid who is born with talent as unfairly advantaged ?

        1. I am a little lost with your reasoning….do those who tell their kith and kin about the opportunity have any power in the casting decision? To spread the word around that there’s an opportunity is not nepotism. But to use your position of power to only allow your kith and kin through the door definitely is.

          1. nope … nepotism in private sector is legal. unless stakeholder decide against it… u cannot tell karan johar on whom to invest on. my reasoning is karan johar would not even make that movie if not for star kids.

    2. HAHA I love this article, one of the best ones after KR-HR and PC-SRK drama. Better than AK-Twinkle stuff too. I agree with everything written here.
Karan is truly the baap of nepotism. And that quote “blue blood attitude”, dude wth are you smoking? The way he talks and is in awe of star kids, these days you just need to be born as a star kid and at 15, you are prepping for BW (by prepping I mean, surgeries, implants, skin lightening, because no one ever needed acting lessons to act) and have a launch pad ready. Also he’s making SOTY 2 with Tger Shroff. *facepalm*. I really miss the likes of old stars like even Sri Devi herself, who is an excellent performer. Waheeda, Meena Kumari, Vaijanthimala, Madhuri, madhubala, etc. The likes of them don’t exist today. Sad.
People need to wake up and smell the coffee. Every single star is a PR cultivated walking, talking machine. Even in Hollywood. PR teams must get paid a ton of money to keep up this image. Biggest case in point, Reshma Shetty for Salman as a PR manager. She turned his whole image around.

    3. Its really a sad state of affairs in bollywood currently..I mean what happened to the good old days when stars were an enigma, with some mystery to them..not some walking talking pr machine?!man bollywood is so unrelatble and saturated in my opinion right now.Once upon a time stars earned their place in the industry and audiences alike with their charm, talent and charisma..unlike these products of nepotism and paid views, comments e.t.c.

    4. Pinkvilla ran 7 separate posts on these two nepo kids yesterday, each post being a variation of the other with not much new information. Shows exactly where KJo is investing. Also interesting to see how we never ever read any disparaging blind items about Alia Bhatt, except for the occasional “blinds” about Sid Alia showmance that one can see from miles away and could just as well have been a standard post.

Does the Bollywood PR machinery really don’t realize how tone deaf they are?
