It’s been quite a while since famous magazines featured the newest actors to make a mark in the industry. Actors who have no industry connection, that is. Instead of film magazine putting these guys on their cover, we have a fashion & style magazine willing to risk it all to do just that!
Adarsh Gourav, Vijay Varma, Arjun Mathur, and Pratik Gandhi are seen here on the cover of Grazia Magazine, April 2021’s issue, which is also a 13th anniversary special.
If you have been watching shows and movies on OTT since last year, these guys are no strangers to you. Though Adarsh is the only one who made his debut earlier this year, the other guys have been around for a while now. Adarsh had a role in a film some time back, Vijay was in ‘Gully Boy’, and Arjun has been around forever (he played character roles in films like ‘Luck By Chance’).
While Adarsh got instant worldwide recognition, mostly thanks to Priyanka Chopra relentlessly promoting this project, Prateik became a household name as soon as Hansal Mehta’s ‘Scam 1992’ released. Imagine struggling for years and suddenly overnight, everyone knows and loves you! That’s what ‘Scam’ did for Prateik. If you have seen his performance, he certainly deserved all the accolades that came his way!
Arjun Mathur, on the other hand, has been working here and there in films until he got his main lead break in ‘Made in Heaven’. It’s a path-breaking role that established him as a recognized name among OTT stars.
Vijay Varma was noticed in ‘Gully Boy’ and became an instant favorite among critics who noticed and praised his talent. Since then he has appeared in several OTT shows, particularly BBC’s ‘A Suitable Boy’ and season two of ‘Mirzapur’. He played twins on the show, which was really unnecessary to the story of the show, just one of him would have been fine.
What all of them have in common is their presence on OTT, especially at a time when everyone was stuck at home! Till now, OTT is still a platform or a space that stars haven’t hijacked. Let’s hope it stays that way since there’s just so much talent to be discovered in Bollywood.
