Priyanka Chopra talks about being ousted from Bollywood

Except she didn’t!

She just claimed she quit because she had no choice.

 

Priyanka Chopra appeared in the latest podcast episode of  “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard” to speak about a lot of things. You can catch the podcast HERE if you are interested to listen to almost two hours of PC talking about everything, from start to end.

The conversation is pretty much the same stories that she wrote in her biography. She also sat down with Oprah to promote the book and the stories she told then, updated stories, are the same ones she told in this podcast.

After years of being in Hollywood, she finally spoke about why she left Bollywood and moved to the U.S.

“I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me for reasons… I had beef with people. I was tired of the politics. I was just like, ‘I need a break.’” – Priyanka Chopra

She then went on to mention that she decided to focus on her singing career and becoming a pop star, instead, after signing a recording contract with Universal Music Group in 2011.

“This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I wanted to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people and it would require, like, groveling and I had worked for a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it. So when this music thing came, I was like fuck it. I’m gonna go to America, and Interscope was amazing. They threw the building at me.” – Priyanka Chopra

If she signed a contract, isn’t she compelled to release an album? Or was it just a fun project for her to see if she can kickstart a music career in the U.S.? She just released 5 singles but never a whole album despite working with several renowned music composers.

We remember vividly her first single came out when she was busy promoting ‘Barfi!’. We remember the media asked Ranbir Kapoor if he heard the song and he said that PC let him listen earlier on. Even Karan Johar mentioned PC introduced the song to him and Alia Bhatt while they were on a flight together. Her timeline doesn’t add up…Because she did go on to do great projects after that. But going by her account, who did she have beef with that prevented her from getting good projects in Bollywood?

In fact, before she found Nick, she had Salman Khan’s film which she promptly dropped out of herself after deciding to tie the knot. Sallu almost begged her to stay since her leaving the project would mess up everyone’s dates.

If she went this far, why not go the full way? Tell the exact story of what happened, no lies or cover-ups.

She can’t, as it’s not the first time! The only thing she can keep doing is talking in circles over it. Just come out and say what you want. That you thought he was really going to leave his family and you too were going to make the States your home. And when that didn’t happen…

But that aside…

In Bollywood, isn’t it well-known that after a certain time, actresses don’t get the roles they want? As in, lead roles in top films? They either have to resort to supporting roles or get married or slowly fade away from working from being in the top 10 list. At least, actresses during her time or before. Very few cases exist like Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukerji, who are both still working as lead actresses today but they have power and popularity on their side so it’s a different case altogether.

Isn’t it well-known that actresses have to be chummy-chummy with the lead actor or director or producer to guarantee their casting in top films? PC knew all of that which is why she was very good at networking. Saying the right thing, hanging with the right crowd…

It all worked out then until…

It’s all not what she’s making it to be. And she was flying high while with the king, why? Because she thought it would last. She is saying that the relationship lasted 5 years but it was on and off, everyone knew that. Coincidentally, it was during these 5 years that she tried to establish her music career. She never spoke about his hand in all of this or his support, if you may.

To make matters worst, it’s not the first time either. Back then too, the wife had banned her husband from working with her, but PC went on to do very well in her career. So why the last time it happened, she is making it sound like everyone in Bollywood blacklisted her?

Obviously, the men involved don’t get a free pass but she, as a woman, was friends with their wives so that’s just disgusting to do this to a woman who trusted her. As for him, he just had to stop acting like a teenage boy in love and bring back his family image by talking about his wife and kids and bringing them out when needed to erase the public affection he bestowed on PC in the audience’s mind.

This was all discussed way back, years ago, right here…You can search those topics and see everything that was discussed then. It’s tiring to bring this up again. Now that ‘Pathaan’ is flying high, his bubble is about to be busted if it hasn’t already! Maybe he can do a funny and sarcastic skit about it?!

We have to ask, though… Was she on a magazine cover with “Finished” written on it? Thought that happened to Hrithik Roshan since he spoke about it multiple times but did it happen with PC? She doesn’t mention the heroes not wanting to work with her print in the paper but a cover with “Finished” written on it for her.

And if you are one of those who wondered why she did those small meaningless roles, here’s what PC said:

So with every job that I have gotten from smaller roles in features that I did, which I needed to build my English language filmography, I had a lot of people who knew me from my Indian film days, questioning why I went to Hollywood to do small parts and B-grade movies, is what they would say.” – Priyanka Chopra

After the big breakup with you-know-who, something happened to PC. She went from being mature to trying hard to either fit in or be in the spotlight. Then her so-called bestie got married to a prince and suddenly, things moved really fast between her and Nick. It’s pointless to mention that now since you all know that. The fact that Meghan Markle and Priyanka don’t get along any more after she couldn’t attend her wedding speaks volumes about what happened between them. They can’t be both hot and happening at the same time, it had to be one or the other! To be fair, PC didn’t know then that the vicious racist Royal Family kidnapped Meghan against her own will! #justjoking

For a while now, for some reason, these same mature strong women who have lived on their own and handled rumours and stories maturely are suddenly acting like they have been wronged and tell their stories as if they are victims and have not done one thing wrong to deserve whatever treatment they think they got.

Does it make sense?

We don’t get it because, at this age, you are used to all that, to not let it all mess you up. How come this thing can make you tear up after you have gone through countless plastic surgery accusations and all that?:

Doesn’t it sound like what the Spare’s (Prince Harry) wife did anytime she thought someone did or said something bad to her? Fell on the floor and cried? Or was it slumped down on the floor in tears?

We are not making fun of her but just bringing this up since she has had people say meaner things to her and this body size thing is not like it’s new. Considering her experience in numerous industries, how can she let these things bother her?

Did we miss out the memo on that it’s trendy to do so? On one hand, you have women like Pamela Anderson who went through so much and yet still says to this day that she ain’t no victim and then you have others with no so serious situations being made a big deal.

Speaking of jumping on what’s trending:

Remember how she hosted a screening and a party for the ‘RRR’ team as soon as there was a buzz for the film in Hollywood? How can she not know what Indian language this movie was made in? She made her acting debut in a Tamil film opposite Vijay, how can she not know what the Tamil language sounds like? On top of that, Ram Charan, the star of ‘RRR’, made his Hindi film debut with her in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan & Jaya Bhadhuri’s ‘Zanjeer’. ‘RRR’ fans are not going to be happy with this. They are not going to let her get away with this on SM.

 

Anyway, the only top actress in recent or not-so-recent times who was actually boycotted or blacklisted was Aishwarya Rai! Other than her, most of the time people in the industry don’t care who you are with or were with. It doesn’t matter unless it affects their business and money.

From what we can see, PC is doing her best to stay relevant in Hollywood. She has been trying for years after the breakup with you-know-who but nothing is sticking. Now speaking on this podcast about a million things including her stint in Bollywood and how loving and gentle her hubby is, she is just trying to hustle. Nothing else.
