Since Rani Mukherji is the ‘malkin’ of Yash Raj Films now, all actors have to be OK with her, especially the ones working under her banner. Not that Amitabh Bachchan did her wrong, they did do one of the best films of her career together. If you remember, Rani was rumoured to be with Abhishek Bachchan. They did a couple of films together and everyone thought they were in love. Neither of them confirmed it, but it was said that Jaya Bachchan was against the relationship as she knew of Rani’s past. Simply said, Jaya didn’t think that Rani was good enough for Abhishek. There was an interview of Jaya Bachchan once in the Walk the Talk edition, Jaya was asked about her thoughts of the Abhishek and Rani pairing and how people thought it was similar to the Jaya and Amitabh pairing. Looking like she was offended, Jaya was instantly annoyed and said, “No!”. It pretty much proved that she didn’t like Rani. You know Jaya, she always tells it like it is (except the supposed Amitabh-Rekha affair). This is one of the plausible reasons and the other is that Rani was also seeing Aditya Chopra at the same time she was seeing Abhishek. This is why Amitabh meeting Rani might be awkward. But then again, this is Bollywood and weirder things have happened.
