We have been waiting for all the official posters of Padmavati to come out to share it here. First, we have to mention how chest hair is making a comeback on a lead star, this generation’s star to be exact. That was the first thing that came to mind when seeing these Khilji’s posters. Hair, hair and chest hair! Clearly, from what we are seeing those Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji is just menacing. If ever, there are faces that remind you of the devil, his posters from Padmavati are it! Now we see why they have waited to launch his posters last.
Obviously, as the story goes Ranveer’s character is pure evil while the characters of Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor are sane. Deepu and Shahid are husband and wife in the film while Ranveer plays the crazy guy, who becomes obsessed with Deepu’s character just from a glimpse of her. See, she was known to be a very beautiful woman and he too was mesmerised by what he heard and had to have her. We don’t know why we are telling you this story here when we haven’t watched the film.
Speaking of watching the film, we can’t wait to watch the trailer. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, no matter how obsessed or crazy the man seems to be, makes good movies. He puts his money in his films and you can see it. We are saying this because very few directors commit to the same. In Bollywood, there’s Sanjay and who else? Most of these directors prefer to oblige the stars they sign on and waste their money on them. Like in the South, there’s the director of ‘Baahubali’, director of ‘Robot’ and many others, who put a lot of money in their films where you can see it. The stars come second. But in Bollywood, that is not the case.
Let’s hope the hype surrounding this film is truly worth it. In the meantime, check out the official posters of Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in ‘Padmavati’.
SK’s look in the posters is of a man who knows that he has lost absolutely everything. Helpless and apologetic.
RS’s look in the posters is of a man, first consumed by his own evil and in the second picture, almost playfully mesmerized by something, the ghost of a smile on his lips. Perhaps this is the scene in which he sees Padmavati in the reflection of a mirror.
As for Paddy’s I’m seriously underwhelmed. First, there is the monobrow, and ok, I get it, legend was that she was a Sri Lankan princess and monobrows were once a classical sign of beauty, along with full figures, waist length hair and the like. That aside, in the picture with her hands folded (Presumably pre-jauhar as all the ladies are in their wedding clothes), she looks like an expressionless wax figure. And her eyes are off centre. WHY is she looking at the top right? It gives an impression of someone who is either blind or has a lazy eye. One would expect more passion and conviction from a woman who is about to give up her life, not meekly staring.
In the second picture she is in a Shiva temple as has the same expression I do, when I’m ordering a coffee and the person after me gets served first.
That being said, at least this time SLB is sparing us from her reptilian green contact lenses. Looks like RS has borrowed them instead, but at least it suits him. Paddy, is this going to be another movie in which you emote with quivering, wide watery eyes?
Probably SLB wanted to catch her famous and talked about beauty, as in Padmavati’s beauty. But, we’ll know more once the film releases.
are u basket case from bollywood basket
