Sanjay Dutt on his Choice of Films after Jail, his Biopic and his Kids, Iqra and Shahraan

Sanjay Dutt has learnt the most important life lesson in the film business, which is never to do films as a favour to friends. After spending his time in jail, Sanjay Dutt had the time to reflect on how he went wrong in life, both professionally and personally. Some years ago, his wife Manyata said that Sanjay likes to give money to his losser friends (her words, not ours). After all, Sanjay Dutt was known to be the nicest guy in Bollywood. You don’t gain that kind of reputation without doing anything. Sanjay now wants to concentrate on doing good films. We sure hope he does do good films because the films he did before he went to jail were so bad that we thought maybe that was the reason they wanted to put him in jail.

Sanjay Dutt on the kind of films he wants to do now
I am going to do great cinema from now on. I will not do any movie as a favour to anyone or out of compulsion. I want to make a difference and I want to change the genre in the film industry.

Sanjay on the movies he has signed up for
One with Sidharth Anand, one with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and the third Munnabhai film. In Sidharth’s film, I play a mature, action hero. Vidhu’s film is about the relationship between a father and daughter. We will begin shooting ‘Munnabhai 3’ in 2017.

Sanjay on his biopic, which is being made by Rajkumar Hirani
I don’t know how much will he be able to put in the film in just two hours. I don’t think it is going to be enough.

Sanjay on spending time with his children, Iqra and Shahraan
They were two years old when I went to jail so I missed many occasions.
