As you all know for over two years now, there have been talks on Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt in his life story that will be made for the big screen by Rajkumar Hirani. Apparently, it was Sanjay that thought of Ranbir as the perfect actor to play him on the big screen. It’s strange that a famous filmmaker like Rajkumar Hirani is interested in making a film on Sanjay Dutt’s life. Maybe he’s compensating for the fact that he can’t make another film for the Munnabhai series anymore, as let’s face it, Sanjay Dutt doesn’t look the same as he did in the previous Munnabhai films.

Sadly, it’s a huge lost for Arshad Warsi as he has been eagerly awaiting for the call to take on the role that changed his life and increased his bank account. It seems that now Sanjay Dutt don’t think that Ranbir is good enough to play him on screen. The reason why he choose him in the first place is because the two of them are close. Ranbir exercises at Sanjay’s own private gym and is always at any private gathering at his place, including the one where Sanjay was drunk and complained about how none of his industry friends helped his family financially when he went to jail. It was rumoured that someone at the party took a video of that outburst and spread it around like wildfire in Bollywood. We think you know who it was.

Back to the story, which was presumably spread by Ranbir Kapoor himself. It was at an evening of partying at Sanjay Dutt’s residence with other film people, who were all drinking and smoking with the exception of Ranbir himself. You asked why we think Ranbir is the one that spread the story? Well, it’s because its’ mentioned in the article how he was the only one not smoking or drinking. Like if he didn’t want his mum to scold him or something. Anyways, Sanjay grabbed hold of Ranbir and the following conversation followed:

I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? @#$^&* bloody hell, you are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don’t know how they cast you. You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can’t be doing films like Barfi!. You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman and Ajay would have been around for so many years, if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important.

A lecture followed from Sanjay Dutt to Ranbir Kapoor on the kinds of films he thought Ranbir should do.

It seems to us that Ranbir probably is having second thoughts on playing Sanjay Dutt on the big screen. This would explain why he leaked out this conversation, which was supposed to happen between him and Sanjay among few other elderly people. He never wanted to play this role in the first place, but he only agreed to it because Sanjay himself recommended and the fact that it’s also directed by one of the most bankable directors in Bollywood, Rajkumar Hirani. Anyways, only time will tell what Ranbir’s true intentions are.
