Things have always went slow and smooth with Shruti Haasan since her career took off in Bollywood. Shruti is sometimes seen in the north and sometimes in the south. Meaning that she has been acting in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films since her debut in Bollywood. Now, she is playing the role that Katrina Kaif played in the original ‘Welcome’ in its sequel ‘Welcome back’. Like Akshay Kumar was in the original, this one has John Abraham as its lead and it also has several other new supporting members, including Shiney Ahuja. It was said that when Shiney was signed on by the director, Shruti refused to work with him and even complained to have him fired. But the director, Anees Bazmee, was adamant in having Shiney in his film.
Shruti Haasan on being part of Welcome Back
It is a brand that has already worked. When I tell people that I am a part of Welcome Back, their faces light up and they’re excited about it. I approach every film as a new project, be it a sequel or a remake.
Shruti Haasan on whether she likes roguish guy like John’s character in this film
I like men who are roguish in their own way. Mujhe shareef ladke ache nahin lagtey. Main bore ho jaati hoon.
Shruti Haasan on whether doing a comedy role is easy for her
Comedy comes easy to me, so does tragedy. I enjoy both these genres a lot and feel comfortable with my scenes.

Anchorman and Padosan are my all-time favourites. I love straight up comedies, where there is no holding back.
Shruti Haasan on working with John Abraham
This is my second film with John, as we are also working together in Nishikant Kamat’s next. There is an amazing comfort level with him and he is an absolute pleasure to work with.
Shruti Haasan on working with Naseeruddin Shah
Naseer sir is a legend. To watch him is such a learning experience. He is also very calm and a lot of fun.
Shruti Haasan on Nana Patekar
Nana sir is a genius.
Shruti Haasan on working with Anil Kapoor
Anil sir is one of the most positive and energetic people I’ve worked with. He has been in the industry for so many years, but still remains so enthusiastic about his job. Anil sir is also the funniest. He has a wicked sense of humour.
Shruti Haasan on working with Dimple Kapadia
Dimple ma’am is my ‘jaan’ and I love her. She is one of the coolest women ever and is so talented and beautiful. She was such a bundle of joy. When I was growing up, I wanted to be like her. She is cool and content with her life and equally positive and strong. She is opinionated but doesn’t force her judgements. I aspire to be like her.
Shruti Haasan on working with Paresh Rawal
Paresh sir brings in a positive energy, which is incredible.
