The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V is a digital camera that utilizes a 1/2.4 type (7.59mm) Exmor CMOS Sensor with approximately 10.2 Megapixels output and captures images on its 45MB internal Flash Memory. The camera also supports optional Memory Stick Duo™ Media, Memory Stick PRO Duo™ Media and SD media memory expandability. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V supports movie recording capabilities as well. The Sony G-lens lens is constructed with 10 elements in 7 groups (including 4 aspheric elements). The camera also supports an AF Illuminator Light, In-Camera Editing such as trimming, red eye correction, soft focus, partial color, fisheye lens, cross filter, retro, radial blur, unsharp masking and smile. It powered y the BIONZ™ imaging processor technology. It has a focal length of 25-250mm (still image)/ 30-300mm (movie recording on 16:9 / 36-360mm (movie recording on 4:3); an aperture range of F3.5 to F8.0; Face Detection, 10x optical zoom, 2″ – 1/1,600 shutter speed range, Smart Zoom® Technology and up to 20x digital zoom.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V supports BIONZ™ Engine technology and provides users with a platform to capture images in low light conditions via its 3200 ISO sensitivity. They can view and compose their shots via its 3.0 inch Clear Photo LCD (230,400 pixels). The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI™) on the camera also supports transmitting uncompressed digital streams to digital audio device and/or video monitor such as a digital television (DTV), allowing users to view their capture images and videos on the big screen.
