The trailer of David Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No.1’ has finally released!
After months of refusing to sell the film to any OTT platform, Varun, his father and the producers finally relented and gave in to Amazon Prime Video India. The film will now be released on Christmas Day, 25th December 2020.

As if Covid-19 hasn’t ruined Christmas this year, the Dhawans and the Bhagnanis decided to make sure the last holiday of the year is definitely destroyed…by their attempt at recreating a hit film from the 90s that starred the comedy king of the 90s.
This is probably one of the worst trailers of the year. What were they thinking? Is David making Varun’s wishes of remaking his favorite films come true or is there something else here? Varun, as usual, only has three actors he copies and emulates on screen: Shah Rukh, Salman and Govinda. In this one, there’s a mixture of Govinda and Salman, plus he’s also acting like Mithun! Sara Ali Khan is there for show only, sometimes it looks like she is having a stroke while at other times she gives dumb looks – her attempt at giving innocent expressions! To be fair, it could be she is still new so the audience is not used to her facial expressions which, at this point, are very different from the expressions she gives off-screen. So, maybe give it time!
Here’s the thing, we can’t remember much of the original film that starred Govinda and Karishma Kapoor. We have probably seen dozens of Govinda’s films and with Karishma, there were a lot more so it’s hard to keep track of one, in particular. But…This kind of film suits a certain time which definitely isn’t now.
It’s good that they are releasing this on OTT because they can fake their after-release success announcement like the ‘Laxmii’ producers did. But then even ‘Judwaa 2’ worked at the box office, which means there’s an audience out there for this type of silly content. If ‘Judwaa 2’ hadn’t worked, the Dhawans wouldn’t have come out with this film.
So now the tables are reversed and they are going to be brutally torn apart and trolled online as the OTT audience is completely different from the single screens theaters and also, multiplexes. And, this is full-on nepotism material! Not that it really matters, content is king!

Alia and akshay ( sadak 2 and laxmii) couldn’t spare themselves from the wrath of public. It seems that now it’s varun and sara’s turn(coolie no.1). Public has almost stopped respecting Bollywood ( not counting forced paid comments from pr). Bollywood might diminish in few years from now.
