The trailer of Shakun Batra’s upcoming release on Amazon Prime is here! The much-awaited ‘Gehraiyaan’ stars Deepika Padukone as a bored wife who is lost and trying to find herself and she does eventually in the arms of her cousin’s fiance! The cousin is played by Ananya Pandey while the finance is Siddhant Chaturvedi. Dhairya Karwa, who’s part of the latest group of actors launched by Dharma Productions, plays Deepu’s hubby who doesn’t like to take out the trash which is something that pisses off Deepika’s OCD character in film…Or she is just bored with him!

Many people are comparing this to ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’…Guess we will know for sure when it releases! But Shakun Batra is no KJo, so this one is definitely going to be different.
Based on the trailer, it looks quite deep without the theatricals and unnecessary scenes of KANK.
And of course, the romantic music! The thing is, with the birth and rise of several OTT platforms, this topic has kinda been done to death so ‘Gehraiyaan’ is not going to surprise everyone on the first look!
What’s new in ‘Gehraiyaan’ is the cast, from what we can see. Siddhant looks promising in this one. His last release, the one that he had so much hope in, ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ sank without a trace at the box office. His performance in that one was as if someone put his character from ‘Gully Boy’ in that film. In ‘Gehraiyaan’, he plays the cheating partner! Hard to say anything about Ananya, it appears as if she’s just playing herself or perhaps a slighter calmer version of herself! Lucky for her, things at the NCB didn’t get worse since the officer in charge was transferred from the case. Or else, they would have used her as an example. Based on the trailer, Dhairya doesn’t have much to do…maybe that will change in the film. He was last seen in’83’, a film that made a lot of noises for the wrong reasons…at the box office!
Deepika is the biggest name in this film so the film rests on her shoulders, for now. Her last release as a solo lead was in 2020 and since then, there were other projects that were supposed happen but didn’t materialized. ‘Gehraiyaan’ did happen and that too, during the pandemic so all eyes are on her in this film. Don’t know why we are getting flashback of her character in ‘Finding Fanny’ in this trailer. Maybe because of the English dialogues.
Overall, the movie looks interesting so why not?!
