Trailer: Roohi – Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor & Varun Sharma

All the time people were talking about ‘Roohi’, we thought they were talking about KJo’s kid! Initially, this film was titled ‘Roohi Afzana’ so forgive our confusion! We actually thought Janhvi Kapoor’s favorite game was pretending to be a ghost when she’s around KJo’s kids! #nojoke

‘Roohi’ is a horror-comedy film that stars Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. This is Janhvi’s third film, if you don’t count that ghost short story she did, and this time, she is playing a witch who abducts brides. According to Janhvi, Roohi is : “One of the most exciting, challenging, complicated, physically demanding and emotionally taxing roles that I’ve had the privilege of doing.”

Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma decide to save every new bride by kidnapping Roohi. This seems like ‘Stree’ but if ‘Stree’ was obsessed with brides instead of men!

Check out the trailer of ‘Roohi’:

The film is directed by Hardik Mehta, who also directed the watchable ‘Kamyaab’, and is produced by Dinesh Vijan who produced ‘Stree’.

RKR comes back to the horror comedy genre with a new look. It’s commendable how he invests in changing his look for every character that he plays. At least, he knows the audience might get bored of the same look every time. It’s funny that despite changing his look for every character, there’s always that touch of innocence and simplicity in his face and demeanor. That never changes!

Produced by Mukesh Ambani’s ‘Jio Studios’, ‘Roohi’ will be released in theatres on March 11.  That’s in less than a month and to be honest, it’s quite a big risk to take as most people will still want to avoid stepping in confined places. So far, only the superstars’ releases have worked and that too, South Indian film superstars not Bollywood.

Let’s wait and see whether they stick to this release date. They could also release the film online since JIO studios was created for that “first day first show” magic for online audiences.

Horror comedy films, if done right, are appreciated. We like good horror comedy films with a good storyline. Not those kinds with just scary background music and just silly and stupid scenes. The good thing about horror comedy is that you go to bed with a smile on your face instead of being scared sh!tless!

What do you think of ‘Roohi’?
