TV Show I Like: The Comeback – Lisa Kudrow, Malin Akerman, Robert Bagnell and Lance Barber

I recently watch a new TV Show named ‘The Comeback’. Yes I know it’s not a new TV show, but I only managed to watch it now almost 7 years after its release. After I bought the DVD pack of ‘The Comeback’ from Amazon, it stayed with me for about 2 months before I decided to pop one disc in the DVD player and start watching.

First of all before I start, let me say that I am a huge Lisa Kudrow fan. Thanks to her role in the hit TV Show ‘Friends’, I have loved Phoebe’s every moment on the show; she’s the nerd, she’s the geek. With that in mind, I watched ‘The Comeback’.

Basically ‘The Comeback’ is about Lisa Kudrow’s character’s comeback to the small screen AND to the reality TV world. The show starts off with Lisa’s character, Valerie Cherish, who’s starting to film a reality show about how she is going to make her comeback on the small screen. Surprisingly, the reality show is from the same network on which she is signed in a small role on the TV show.

The character Valerie Cherish in ‘The Comeback’ will both shock and amuse you. It’s strange, I think, as I don’t belong in the entertainment world/business and yet the way Lisa Kudrow portrays Valerie Cherish is so real that for the 13 episodes, you really feel what she is feeling.

Just like the show on HBO, ‘Enlightened‘, ‘The Comeback’ is similar in many ways. Valerie Cherish and Amy Jellicoe are similar, there are times when you feel they are annoying, there are times when you feel, “God, why doesn’t she stop!” and there are times when you sympathize with them.

The good thing about ‘The Comeback’ is that the show doesn’t exaggerate. It’s a ten on ten on everything. Valerie is filming a reality show, which means cameras following her everywhere 24/7. In a way this can be very difficult to deal with, but in Valerie’s case she has a very supportive husband who’s not in the same business as her. Her cast mates, though younger than her, are on friendly terms with her. With all these kinds of people surrounding her, clearly Valerie is not a bitch in ‘The Comeback’!

Sadly, ‘The Comeback’ didn’t make it to a second season as the ratings were really low. Still, all those who watched the show can vouch for the fact that it’s very entertaining. There are very little that can be found on the show, but I managed to find a small promo.

    HILARIOUS!

Even though ‘The Comeback’ has been canceled way back, Lisa Kudrow can now been seen in the very entertaining show ‘Web Therapy’. One thing for sure, you can always count on the cast of ‘FRIENDS’ to make you laugh.

‘The Comeback’ is available on Amazon now!

    UPDATE

Great News for All Lisa Kudrow and ‘The ComeBack’ fans! ‘The ComeBack’ is making a comeback on HBO in November 2014. ‘The ComeBack’ will feature six episodes that according to Lisa Kudrow will be a story with the “beginning, middle and end”.

The Comeback: Part 2 will focus on Valerie being cast in a fictional new HBO series, with the cameras following her as part of the network’s behind-the-scenes documentary series—so expect plenty of meta-jokes. – Entertainment Weekly
